Hey. I saw that someone requested a third opinion for the reputation section. First off, I believe that the current section needs a great deal of work. Statements like "the Spurs seem as low key as the residents" are inappropriate and should be removed. I'm open to discussing whether or not the section should even exist. If there are enough notable sources/articles about the team's reputation, then they should be mentioned here before being added into the page. Until then, the section seems like weighted cruft. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 22:32, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Any other opinions out there???? Jacksonthor ( talk) 20:53, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
...Er, alright then. Jackson, do you want to trim this section down? — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 20:22, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Looks like it's ok just to delete the section entirely, right? Jacksonthor ( talk) 18:42, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
I don't think the section should have been entirely deleted. As I said above... the Spurs are seen, off the court, as a franchise and players that consistently give back to the community. The Spurs consistently rank in the Top 2 in ESPN's "Ultimate Standings" http://sports.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation/mag/franchiseRanks, which ranks teams in a variety of sports and community related areas. It's safe to say that the Spurs run a quality organization that wins consistently, gives back, and has a special relationship with their community; this should be inserted somewhere into this article. http://sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/story?name=franchise08rank2 This could all be done in an informative, non-biased manner. -- Cdman882 ( talk) 15:57, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
I've noticed that the other more prominent teams (lakers, c's, bulls) have templates of that certain franchise. You know, the template/summary of the organization thingy near the bottom of the page eith the champion team's lineup for that year. I don't see the reason why we shouldn't make a template for the spurs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.213.81.142 ( talk) 18:22, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
The head coach list that is currently in the article duplicates most of the information already at List of San Antonio Spurs head coaches. Why create twice the work? The purpose of separate articles is to summarize them when needed, not to create another copy of it and bloat articles.— Bagumba ( talk) 20:19, 11 February 2015 (UTC)
The color should be #000000 and nothing else. Spurs color is black, not some dark blue/off-black. p b p 16:53, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
Team color name | Color name | CMYK color | RGB color |

Spurs Black | Pantone Black | 30C/0M/0Y/100K | 6R/25G/34B |
I remember having a related conversation of #000000 vs #061922 with Charlesaaronthompson, whom I believe introduced #061922 into Module:Basketball color/data for San Antonio. AFAIK, the NBA source does not list the hex encoding, so I'm not sure if what is the consensus on how to perform the conversion. My contention with not using #000000 was that it caused WP:CONTRAST issues in some cases, depending on the other team color.— Bagumba ( talk) 03:08, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
That doesn't seem right with this particular color pairing.": I believe we are in agreement. What I had meant to say was that using #061922 (i.e. not #000000) was resulting in a lower contrast and WCAG 2.0's AAA was not met in some cases. However, I'm not sure what is the ideal process to generically covert a given color from a team's published color guidelines to a web hex color code. What would you suggest?— Bagumba ( talk) 07:16, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

In an statement given after Red McCombs' death (which was referenced in this ESPN.com article and likely other places), George Gervin told the Houston Chronicle that McCombs named the team after Spur, Texas (McCombs' birthplace). I don't know if that should be added here, or if that counts as a reliable enough source, but I thought I'd share it here. - happy 5214 02:28, 26 February 2023 (UTC)
