I would like to restructure this article Seperating out the dissent element into a sub=section if possible... something like "this is what the union was history etc..." then a sub heading under 'Old Lutheran' or 'Dissenters' and discuss what the opposition took offense to. I will offer the first suggestion for revision--to include the German name for the 1817 Prussian Union, which is referred to as the Unionsurkunde.

After a sabbatical from WP for a few years, it is nice to revisit an old article that you started and see how it has developed. I have moved on from this subject, but will stop back in from time to time to check it out. This article could maybe use a peer-review to see what needs to happen to bring it to GA status. It is not an evangelical church, but an "evangelic" church. That ist the common name in German for Protestantism; while Protestantism pinpoints the protest of historical Lutherans and Reformed, "Evangelic" highlights the " sola scriptura" principle of Luther, Calvin and Zwingli. True, most Anglophone people understand the term as related to Evangelicalism, but the meaning of being rooted in the gospel, is also used in English, which is why several chuch bodies in the US and Canada are officially named the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, or Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. This differentiation is explained in the usage section of the arcticle on Evangelicalism. So translating names of German-language church bodies as Evangelical or Evangelical Lutheran, or Evangelical Reformed is a correct translation within the scope of the meaning of the term in English.

I can see italicizing German and other foreign words, in an article written in English. But it seems that italics were applied for emphasis, but not always consistently. It looks strange and is distracting to read. Best regards TheBaron0530 ( talk) 18:22, 4 October 2019 (UTC)TheBaron0530 reply

I agree. I've removed a lot of the italics from the first part of the article, but there's much more to do. I think part of the problem is that this article may have been translated from its German counterpart. The syntax is not natural English is many places.
