Cleanup bare url's tag

Hey MarnetteD. So, by placing the cleanup bare URL's tag, I was hoping to get some help cleaning up cites such as cite #5. There are several cites like that in this article, that are a bare URL and some text. Isn't it best practice to convert those to a cite template? Thanks for your help. – Novem Linguae ( talk) 09:42, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

Hello NL. Items like that actually meet the criteria at WP:CITE and fall under the classification of "manually formatted." They have the info needed to search in a web archive should they go dead. There are times when they have more info then they will if formatted by refill. The only way for any of the tools to format them is if you strip out everything except the url like this <ref>http://www.americanlibrariesmagazine.org/blog/microfilm-s-75th-anniversary</ref>. It is up to you whether you want to take the time to do that or not. Thanks for the ping and best regards. MarnetteD| Talk 10:00, 12 February 2021 (UTC)
