There should be a section describing the 5xxx tester which was used to detect some kind of hardware failure on 5xxx and 6xxx Performas and Power Macs. I don't remember all the details off the top of my head, but it had something to do with the sound card and possibly the video chip as well.

Either way, the tester was bundled with most versions of MacOS, and the affected computers were to be repaired (probably with a motherboard swap) later on. -- 69.151.253.144 ( talk) 00:58, 28 May 2012 (UTC) reply
