Why isnt ANTIFA / BLM terrorism mentioned at all, i mean the city is overrun by these wackos and living for normal people is hell in Portland because of them, yet nothing is mentioned in the article. "Crime section" only covers up to 2014 also. — Preceding

Feel free to draft well-sourced claims and share here, otherwise this drive-by comment isn't very helpful... ---

Most of the harm done by protesters is covered in
1.4.1 already, and there hasn't been much violence since then.

wikipedia is a neutral site, and adding most of these claims which aren't all that notable will make the article clearly biased

Important people
shouldn't the important people section have the current mayor in it or something?

– I know this will be controversial, however Portland is the only place that is widely known as Portland, hence it fulfils
WP:PRIMARYTOPIC.
Portland, Maine and the
Isle of Portland both have different titles and are much smaller and less widely known places. Surely if Portland, Oregon can't be simply "Portland", then
Perth, Australia shouldn't be allowed to be called simply "
Perth" on Wikipedia.
Note: pages with content, such as
Portland, are ineligible as new titles in move requests unless they, too, are proposed to be renamed.
Portland → Portland (disambiguation) has been added to this request to satisfy that requirement. P.I. Ellsworth ,

Oppose per
WP:USPLACE and per previous discussions, like Phoenix it doesn't appear to be primary so we don't likely need an exception. How does
Portland, Maine have a different title? Its titled in the same way as this Portland namely uses the comma convention. Also while the Isle of Portland article has a different title its commonly called just "Portland" and its parish (municipality) is just
Portland. Crouch, Swale (

WP:SNOW close. Australia isn't under
WP:USPLACE. Not to mention, there is no consensus on what the primary topic of Portland is to begin with, so this move is pretty much a non-starter... --

Oppose on the simple explanation that there are many other Portland places and what Quiz shows says — Preceding

Oppose and speedy close per
WP:USPLACE. We have already had RM discussions about other U.S. cities over the past few weeks on this exact same issue, and editors have repeatedly expressed their support to maintain
WP:USPLACE.

Oppose. Notwithstanding the
WP:USPLACE arguments, I'd prefer that there should not be any primary topic for "Portland" and error on the side that both the most populous city in Maine and the most populous city in Oregon have about equal long-term significance. Regardless of the actual population numbers between Maine and Oregon, Maine's Portland still contributes significantly to that state's economy, history, and so forth.

Speedy close per USPLACE, and because its Maine namesake is also significant. O.N.R.(talk) 05:19, 13 February 2023 (UTC)reply
