If anyone has any wikipedia expertise, feel free to add or make this looks a little nicer. I'm too lazy to figure all this out now, but I'll try to work it up a bit better at some point. Whelk bucket 01:48, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Whelk_bucket reply

Copyrighted materials removed

Hello there! I have removed large sections of the article because they are protected by copyright. The entire material removed was a word by word exact copy of the information found on the website http://www.oxfordacademy.net and its subpages. Material that is under copyright can not be used on Wikipedia ( WP:Copyvio). If you want to include the information, it needs to be re-written to comply with Wikipedia standards and - more importantly - with copyright laws in the United States. Another option is to get permission from the copyright holder to release the information under a free license. That all is complicated. If you are interested how the informaion needs to be processed to comply with U.S. copyright laws and Wikipedia policies, please leave your ideas here on this talk page first. I would be happy to assist in the process. Please do not simply re-add the material, as it will be deleted again. To not clutter the now pretty short article I have also removed images. Thank you! doxTxob \  talk 03:15, 25 February 2009 (UTC) reply

I post this message not only on the user talkpage but also here for continous documentation and to have platform to discuss this topic. (User deletes comments from talkpage frequently)
Hello User:Jerzyboy455! Your most recent edits restored copyrighted material in this Wikipedia article and your edits were reverted. The website http://www.oxfordacademy.net clearly expresses that the material is under copyright. Text and images that are under current copyright can be used on Wikipedia only if the owner of the copyright releases the rights to the material published on Wikipedia under a free license. To initiate this process there are certain formal steps to take as outlined in the guide to request copyright permission. If - and only if - the copyright is released under a free license and a check confirms that the communication is authentic, the material can be used on Wikipedia. If you need help with that, please feel free to drop a note.
In case the copyright is released by the owner and the material is published on Wikipedia, it can be edited and modified by any editor, as everything else on Wikipedia. Regarding this article I would rather recommend that you reformulate a little of the material and skip a whole lot of it. Look at the section "A day at Oxford" with an image of a pupil drinking milk. Those who are interested will be able to find this information on the academy's website but I do not think this has a place in an encyclopedia. What I am trying to explain to you is that even if the copyright is released for the material in a formal process, much of the information looks too biased and commercial to be encyclopedic content. An encyclopedia needs to take a point of view that is characterized by neutrality. The material in question, for the most part, does not satisfy the neutral point of view that is required for Wikipedia articles. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and you need to comply with certain rules of writing. For the commercial side there are websites, there you can do whatever you like.

PS - As there is back and forth in the edits, [1] this is the version of the article that does not contain copyrighted materials.

Maybe there is confusion between the Oxford Academy in Cypress California and The Oxford Academy in Connecticut. Please restore the copy removed as we wrote and own that copy from our website. There is a comment that the ratio of faculty to students is not 1:1 but we identify the 1:1 as how we teach our classes. There are more teachers than students so we can offer enough classes to multiple students while also running study halls and offering extra help. 68.192.139.112 ( talk) 16:28, 24 January 2023 (UTC) reply
