help)In North America the word "Freeway" is usually restricted to limited access highways with no tolls. So the New York State Thruway, the Pennsylvania Turnpike, and the Massachusetts Turnpike, would be referred to as such, while the word "Freeway" would be restricted to those highways which do not collect tolls in order to qualify for US federal government construction and maintenance subsidies. So Ontario Highway 407 is an expressway and a limited access highway, but I find referring to a road with tolls as "freeway" misleading. Jamescobban ( talk) 05:31, 22 October 2023 (UTC)
