Bar record

The claim that "Oneonta held the record for the most bars per capita in the state of New York for many years." dates back many years (I grew up in Oneonta during the '60s and '70s), but I have never actually seen a source for that. It may well be true because there always have been many bars (first to serve railroad workers and then later students), but it would be nice to know if it is really true. -- BigBostonCat 23:08, 5 August 2006 (UTC) reply

Paul Reubens

I currently live in Oneonta and attend college at SUCO, and I've heard many times that Reubens lived here (actually across the street) and my boss told me he lived in the same building for a while, but I've never seen any sort of documentation to that fact. There is no citation here either -- perhaps it can be found? I found one mention of Oneonta by Paul in a transcript from an interview ( http://www.crankycritic.com/qa/stillerreubens.html accessed Jan 31 2009) but it is a single mention of sitting on a floor in Oneonta. How long did he live here? When? Maladroitmortal ( talk) 05:53, 31 January 2009 (UTC) reply

James Corrigan

Regarding the repeated addition about James Corrigan. First of all, the fact that a student ran for mayor (and lost) is completely insignificant, Corrigan not being a notable person in any way according to WP:NOTABILITY. The fact that there is a source confirming that he ran for mayor is irrelevant if the event is non-notable. In a separate matter, the business about the sex scandal is completely unsourced. Since it concerns living persons and potentially libelous material, it must be sourced even to be eligible as an inclusion in Wikipedia (see WP:BLP). But the event was so minor and insignificant, I don't see why it should be in the article on this town, even if it were sourced. Bottom line: It's easier for us to revert this addition than to add it, so you might as well stop wasting your time. - Jordgette ( talk) 21:13, 1 October 2010 (UTC) reply

Update: 168.215.102.2, if you haven't figured it out by now, this addition is not going into Wikipedia. One more attempt and the article will be protected indefinitely, which is bad for everyone. All because of one editor. Wikipedia loses AND you lose -- what is the point? Please don't be a douchebag, thank you. - Jordgette ( talk) 19:36, 9 December 2010 (UTC) reply

Incorporation date

This city has two different incorporation dates (1848 in history section, 1842 in infobox) as a village. Which village date is correct? NewYorkeruser ( talk) 01:37, 25 December 2011 (UTC) reply

Nader Towers

The article currently reads, "The tallest building in Oneonta is Nader Towers. Standing 14-stories high, the building is owned by the City of Oneonta Housing Authority and is operated as a senior citizen's housing dwelling."

While I don't doubt that it's the tallest building, it is actually only nine stories tall. I can't seem to find any references for this at the moment, the current sentence is also unreferenced. I will change it for now and let someone else find a reference or delete it or... whatever. :) It also isn't just for seniors; disabled and low-income individuals also live there.
