I'd like to learn more about when the European explorers "encountered" the city of Oceanside, CA. Surely, another word is much more appropriate. Ix 03:27, 13 February 2006 (UTC) reply

Architecture

I am an Oceanside resident and I'd like to do a sub-section on the architecture of the local buildings. I'm fairly sure they'll be marked as original research (I might do that also) but I'd be glad if a fellow Oceansider could vouch for me.' - signed by anon IP

bungalow house

the bungalow house was demolished awhile ago, but it needs to be noted that this is where it location was

the bungalow house is still there, for now. - signed by anon IP

If 'bungalow house' is referring to the house from Top Gun, it is most definitely still standing. I visited it just a few weeks ago and have photos. - Anon Nov 2016 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.208.208.131 ( talk) 21:43, 16 November 2016 (UTC) reply

I've removed all famous persons who are not cited or whose articles mention nothing about Oceanside. White Lightning 05:32, 29 August 2007 (UTC) reply

Other Demographic data (removed edit)

Some of them placed by previous anonymous editors, still needs sources (esp. about the fascinating yet lacking sources on the Samoan community), and the Wall Street Journal must have an article in their deep web on Oceanside and the local housing market.

According to estimates by the San Diego Association of Governments, the median household income of Oceanside in 2005 was $61,792 (not adjusted for inflation). When adjusted for inflation, the median household income was $50,177. On June 13, 2005, the Wall Street Journal rated Oceanside as the top vacation home market in the country.

Oceanside like many California coastal communities and affluent Southern California towns, are popular places for large numbers of people to have summer homes for seasonal residents. - The article is not meant for real estate advertisement and marketing purposes.

The area around Oceanside High School was, along with the neighborhood around San Diego High School, the site of the first Samoan communities on the U.S. mainland. - I briefly checked the High school article, their website and local history to not find a hint of this fun fact.

And here's another on the city's racial and ethnic diversity profile -

Oceanside may have a 5% Pacific Islander population: Guamanians, Native Hawaiian and Samoan Americans. Also a large percentage of African Americans, Arab Americans, Filipinos and some large tribal nations of Native American tribes for a city its size in the USA.

Camp Pendleton was used to process Vietnam War refugees from Southeast Asia (see Vietnamese Americans) in the late 1970s, then Central Americans fleeing civil wars in the 80s and Balkan War refugees in the 90s.

Please consult the U.S. Census 2010 reports or the likes of American Factfinder, City-Data and the Samoan American organizations for the actual statistics for the number of Pacific Islanders and Samoans specifically resident in Oceanside. Mike D 26 ( talk) 15:14, 30 April 2012 (UTC) reply

I added the full citation of The Wall Street Journal article, which was available via ProQuest. I moved it because it did not seem to fit under demographics for me. Being the hottest vacation home location was based on home appreciation. 72Dino ( talk) 15:51, 30 April 2012 (UTC) reply

Clair Burgener Academy

Clair Burgener Academy appears to have closed in 2009 so it should either be removed or noted as a former district school. I would donthe update but User:Barkeep49 gave me an editing restriction for accidentally creating Draft:Huntsville City Hall and a few other entries in mainspace rather than delraftspace.
