Fleet Retirements

Does anybody have any accurate information about the current status of the Orion I, Orion V, and MCI Classic buses in NFTA's fleet. I know that the Gillig hybrids have been reported to replace the worst of the New Flyer D40HF's, what then replaced (or will replace) the last of the Orions and the older Classics?

Also, which of the Orion I buses are wheelchair accessible and which ones are not. I know that midway through the order accessible Orion I's came in, anyone know when? Thanks. Scrabbleship 22:09, 16 May 2006 (UTC) reply

If not mistaken, every Orion 1 was wheelchair lift equipped (by way of the rear door), with the exception of the "600" series, which had no rear door. They were purchased after the requirement by the Federal Government for all NEW transit vehicles purchased be equipped to handle those with mobility issues. Layout

The amount of information is starting to look a little long in the tooth, and doesn't seem to flow smoothly.

Additionally, the title is Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority, which should encompass more information on other subsidiaries, not just the NFTA Metro system.

Does anyone agree, and possibly have a solution on the framework that may be used to clean this up a bit?

I'm not exactly a scholar when it comes to things like this, and would like to ask for some input before removing or reassigning information provided by others.

Update: As mentioned in a later post, a number of citations and removal of trivial and unneccesary information was performed in May, 2011.

Bus Routes

The Route 51-Buffalo Av line actually existed for about two years (late 1980's) between the times that the 50-Buffalo Av/University/Highland bus operated and the merging of the mentioned #51 with the #53-Niagara. I do have public timetables to show that it had existed.

The Route 53-Niagara should also be mentioned as an extinct line since its rejoining the 50-University line into the "50-Main/Niagara" line.

Hope it clarifies some of the confusion.

Twin Coach (Fageol) buses from early 1970's.

Overheard a while back, a number of Twin Coach buses (a rather small order) were purchased in the early 1970's to be used on the Route 29-Wohlers route. Does anyone have information on how many of these buses were used, and the model/yr (other pertinent info)?

Update: some information was provided (uncited) that there were in fact a few buses acquired from Lockport Bus Lines during the amalgamation of multiple carriers into the NFTA fold. The information, (currently) is added to the table.

Citations, Wikipedia standards, etc...

I've gone over the article and was able to provide a number of citations for information that wasn't properly cited. Some of the work also included removing a high amount of trivial entries (something that I was even guilty of a while back).

I'm watching a number of other articles about public transportation receiving bad marks for a variety of reasons, and will be updating the document accordingly.

If you notice that section(s) or parts have been removed, please challenge me (nicely) in the user talk section of my Wikipedia profile why you feel it should be retained.

I'm betting that I may receive a little flak for removing content from the tables, but feel it is going to be in the best interest of bringing the article up to speed and following Wikipedia standards.

Cheers!
