( non-admin closure) There is an overwhelming consensus to remove the "conservative" description from the infobox. — BillHPike ( talk, contribs) 04:36, 27 January 2024 (UTC) reply

Should political = Conservative be removed from the infobox of New York Post? Peter Gulutzan ( talk) 16:30, 8 January 2024 (UTC) reply

  • Yes. The exact phrase is actually "political = Conservative" and the ref that follows it, named "washingtonpost.com", can go after the word "conservative" in the lead sentence. A sufficient reason for removal is Template:Infobox newspaper which says ("For use only when a newspaper has formally aligned its news coverage with a political party or movement. Do not use the infobox for allegations of bias or descriptions of the opinion page."). The phrase was added in February 2023, it has been removed and re-inserted a few times since, per WP:VNOT consensus should exist for re-insertion. The earlier discussion is in thread "conservative", editors mentioned there are Manfelice NinjaRobotPirate Politicsfan4 RetroCosmos soibangla SPECIFICO TFD Udehbwuh Virtue Rewarded Richardson Zaathras. • Yes It's helpful, but not WP:IAR levels of helpful, especially if it's already in the lead and precedent does not support it. That the Post is conservative is nearing on skyblue, but if that's the way the infobox is designed to be used then so be it. RetroCosmos talk 16:44, 8 January 2024 (UTC) reply
  • Yes per previous comments Garnet Moss ( talk) 23:59, 8 January 2024 (UTC) reply
  • Yes as in the infoboxes for Washington Post and New York Times which do not have "political =". Thanks. Path2space ( talk) 03:33, 9 January 2024 (UTC) reply
  • Yes - Seems too complex a thing to summarize in the infobox. "Conservative" is a pretty vague word/concept. IOHANNVSVERVS ( talk) 23:05, 12 January 2024 (UTC) reply
Close requested here. I'm aware of the advice in Closing the discussion but the matter under discussion is contentious, as evidenced by the back-and-forth removals and re-insertions and the earlier thread. Peter Gulutzan ( talk) 15:50, 25 January 2024 (UTC) reply
