The NY Philharmonic's performance in North Korea will be available as a streamed Web cast at http://www.pbs.org/wnet/gperf/shows/nyphil/index.html Bike0404 ( talk) 01:28, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
There are more than 2 orchestras older than NY Phil in Europe. Only in German speaking countries I can remember the following: the Staatskapelle Berlin, Vienna Philharmonic, Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden and Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra.
The Vienna Philharmonic and the NY Phil were founded in the same year. Markhh ( talk) —Preceding comment was added at 04:35, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
The NY Philharmonic is going to do what our bickering politicians in Washington cannot. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.114.18.240 ( talk) 06:00, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
Why are you infusing politics with this article? That's not appropriate. 216.229.227.143 ( talk) 01:55, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
Hi. I'd like to add a video interview with Ted Wiprud to external links. He talks about the history of the New York Philharmonic. Here is the interview. Ammosh11 18:10, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Is "Philharmonic-Symphony Society of New York" still the orchestra's official name? If so, should it be mentioned in the lead? 83.199.19.158 ( talk) 12:23, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
What's the source citation for the comment that the Philharmonic was criticized by the New York press for leaving "Ode to Joy" off the Ninth Symphony on the occasion on Lincoln's death? faithx5 ( talk) 23:35, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
New York Philomusica is a chamber ensemble that is not in any way related to the New York Philharmonic. These two pages should not be merged. —Preceding unsigned comment added by NYPM ( talk • contribs) 13:53, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
The Philharmonic recently underwent a significant rebranding by notable graphic designer Paula Scher. I think the logo should be included on the page, possibly in the info box, but I'm not sure where. The logo is uploaded already:

I don't think it's necessary or even appropriate to put the link to the Philharmonic's website in the Infobox, especially when it's at the bottom of the page in the External Links section. If noone objects, I'd like to remove it from the Infobox. Also, would someone be able to finally assess the article for its currently-associated WikiProjects and maybe incorporate into a few more, like WikiProject New York? - KirkCliff2 ( talk) 15:17, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
I'm in the middle of cataloguing my recordings. One of these features a performance of the New York Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra on 9 February 1938 with Menuhin and Barabirolli. I had wondered whether there was a mistake in the name given, but looking at this article and New York Symphony Society, I think this might be accurate. However a table of the names which this orchestra has used would be useful.-- Peter cohen ( talk) 21:13, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
An entire section devoted to one concert seems out of proportion in this article. Suggest deleting this section and adding a Sgt. Pepper Live link to the "See also" section. Any thoughts? Markhh ( talk) 03:53, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
The infobox for the orchestra is, in my view, just about completely useless. Are the only members of the orchestra those listed here? Of course not. That template was designed for pop performers; the consensus at the classical music project here in WP-land has been to remove these boxes. I will do so unless there is a huge outcry within the next day or two. -- Wspencer11 (talk to me...) 17:56, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
The infobox is supposed to summarise the article. For 'notable instruments' it gives: "Violins: Bott 1725 Stradivari and Guarneri, del Gesù 1727, and Viola: ex-Nathan Gordon 1580 da Salò". However this information is not explained in the article and is unreferenced. Should it be deleted? -- Klein zach 15:20, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
The statement that "the orchestra is older than any other extant American symphonic institution by nearly four decades" is misleading and should be clarified. For example, Boston's Handel and Haydn Society might well be considered a "symphonic institution" and was founded in 1815, 27 years earlier than the Phil. Sammo ( talk) 20:16, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
Perhaps this exists elsewhere already - but I came here looking for a recording of Mozart's 40th symphony from the NYP... which of course will be buried in the table of contents of some LP recorded "who-knows-when" - if it exists at all. In any case - don't we need a comprehensive discography - Searchable by all of the following fields?
COMPOSER --> WORK --> CONDUCTED BY --> GUEST SOLOISTS --> "On LP Titled. XYZ" --> Venue Recorded in (sometimes the NYPhil travels, etc.) --> Date Recorded/released --> Live/Studio Label etc.
This would be incredibly useful as part of the documentation of one of the - if not *the* most important orchestras on the planet. Thank you all! Moucon2 ( talk) 21:59, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
