I have been classifying the entries in this list by the village in which they are located. I use the City of Newton online assessment roll which is easy to search by address along with a city map and zip code map. This is complicated by the fact that village lines are unofficial and don't necessarily match zip code lines In addition some villages such as Nonantum and Oak Hill don't have their own zip codes.

Please feel free to help in doing this classification. If you find a place that has been misclassified, please move it to the right village, but please give your reasons in the edit summary. Thanks clariosophic 14:34, 1 September 2007 (UTC) reply

All lists of National Registered Historic Places are generated from the National Park Service. Their Template is the source. No new place can be added unless it is put on the National List. This and other articles were created as transfers verbatim from the List of Registered Historic Places in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, which Wikipedia said was way too long. The original list has links to each new list under the city or town's heading it was transferred from.
