This article is great, but it fails to mention the boom in economy the town has recently seen with the building of a Movie Theater and several car dealerships in town. It also fails to talk about the Correctional Center, the new High School, or how completely boring it is.

While it is true Monroe may not have a rich and lusterous history dating back to colonial times, I doubt it's most worthy accomplishments were having a few scenes from two completely forgettable box office bombs (The Ring 2, Butterfly Effect) and one mediocre (The Ring... which by the way was primarily shot in Astoria Oregon along with it's sequel) shot there, as well as playing host to a production company that few outside the Stipek family has likely ever heard of. (No offense intended.) Would somebody with some actual knowledge of this town please edit this page for the rest of us?

I don't think it's fair to insult this town by calling it boring. If you were to hop in your car and drive south for about 20 minutes you'd run into this tiny little town called Seattle... maybe you've heard of it? Is it now a requirement that every town in America have 15 nightclubs, 11 movie theatres and 3 full-scale carnivals lest it be labed "boring?" Monroe is a nice town to live in and it's really not any different than any other residential suburb in the US. Leave it alone please.

Suggestions

Hi fellow editors, I am putting some suggestions here to complete an assignment for a class I'm taking.

The information in the History section is interesting, but there should be citations to back information such as the part with Mr. and Mrs. Shine Peters helping with the fair in 1941. The inclusion of when the Evergreen State Fairgrounds were built would be great as well, to add more of a context to the article.

I would also include information pertaining to Lake Tye (which is probably named for the same reason as Monroe's original name of Tye City) which is a man-made lake and has become an important social gathering place for people in Monroe. There is a playground, fishing, and a skate park there. Some city events are held there such as Music in the Park and National Night Out.

In the References section, the references from the Monroe Historical Society are all coming up as page 404: Not Found. The link for reference 9, for the Monroe Dream Revitalization Program, also is not functioning. Jennydale17 ( talk) 03:58, 13 October 2016 (UTC) reply

Orphaned references in Monroe, Washington

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Monroe, Washington's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

  • Well-written: The population was 17,304 at the 2010 census and estimated at 19,363 in 2018. I feel this can be slightly tweaked, perhaps something like Its population was 17,304 in the 2010 United States Census and was estimated to be 19,363 in 2018.
The town of Park Place was founded near the confluence... → Monroe was founded as Park Place near the confluence...
This is not an FAC so this isn't too terrible, but there are quite a few DUPLINKs to such articles as Skykomish River, Snoqualmie River, School district, Sultan, Washington, etc. I won't fail this if you don't, but I'd advise you to clean them up. You can use this tool to highlight them for your convenience.
On a similar note, I doubt you need to link common words such as "confluence" and "precipitation".
  • Verifiable/no original research: Duly referenced to reliable enough sources. I don't see any original research. Earwig's tool is timing out for me for copyvios, but this doesn't read like one so I'll accept this on good faith in that respect. checkY
  • Broad: Seems comprehensive enough, IMO. No section receives undue weight. checkY
  • Neutral: No qualms here. checkY
  • Stable: No apparent edit-warring in the last 50 edits. checkY
  • Media: Copyright statuses check out. The images are appropriate and add to the article. checkY

@ John M Wolfson: Thanks for picking this one up for review. I have fixed the two sentences you pointed out and started de-linking a few duplicates and common terms. I would like to keep confluence, as it is not all that common and a bit rare in the region (most rivers here simply flow from mountain to sea without major interruptions). the temperature

(please pardon any poor manners, I have never edited before.) it says that the record high temperature is 102 F, in 2009. I'm not sure exactly how hot it was, but a few summers ago it was definitely hotter. should this be changed? Ratthewmhynas ( talk) 20:12, 14 November 2022 (UTC) reply

@ Ratthewmhynas: Welcome to Wikipedia. If there is a reliable source with a new temperature record, then it can be added. The existing WRCC source recorded all extremes from 1929 to 2016; the NOAA database doesn't have any temperatures over 102 in 2009. Sounder Bruce 22:32, 14 November 2022 (UTC) reply
