Article name

Shouldn't it be named "New Marlins stadium"? -- Rabbethan 00:01, 18 February 2008 (UTC) reply

Subheading names

Using subheadings like "2005: Marlins stadium hopes dissipate" sounds cutesy and essay-like. They should be more straightforward, such as "2005 setback(s)". • Freechild 'sup? 02:54, 20 April 2008 (UTC) reply

Well so be it if it sounds cutesy and essay like that doesnt matter. Those hopes did dissipate and setbacks i mean they had setbacks everyyear so putting dissipate, when their hopes were diminishing that year and looking to relocations gives a more detailed caption.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Fredler Brave ( talkcontribs) 02:46, 21 April 2008

This is wikipedia. It does matter how it sounds like. It should be tagged as such. LostLucidity ( talk) 20:47, 23 September 2008 (UTC) reply

Longivity

This section has been moved from the original Marlins site already but i and others wouldn;t mind if someone would create a page for a section totally talking about the fight for a stadium. Just as long its part of the New Marlins stadium page in a link or in all.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Fredler Brave ( talkcontribs) 01:51, 27 May 2008

Changed the Name

There is no need to have it merged because the page is too long and the page talks about the fight for new stadium in detail and not how the stadium will be build or designs.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Fredler Brave ( talkcontribs) 05:14, 23 July 2008

article moved

I am changing the name of the article to New marlins ballpark. sunshineofyourlove12, 19:34 10 August 2008 (UTC)

You really oughtn't, without first seeking a consensus. Especially since you're seeking to undo something that was decided by consensus. Now, you can argue that the previous sample was too small, and therefore that the question should be brought up again. But to simply revert isn't a good idea. I've merged edits from four titles that this article existed under previously. These articles were repeatedly deleted as recreations of previously-deleted material. Note Talk:Marlins Stadium, reproduced below. Edits from the following pages have been merged here:

  • Marlins Stadium from 22:33, 9 February 2005 to 20:01, 19 December 2005
  • New Marlins Ballpark, which was recreated and continually deleted:
    • on 03:50, 31 August 2007 to 03:53, 31 August 2007
    • on 12:33, 8 September 2007 to 22:19, 18 September 2007

Split out History/length

I'm suggesting that the incredibly length history be split out into a separate order and ALSO shortened. It's ridiculously detailed and should be cleaned up, especially the "trial" section. heat_fan1 ( talk) 20:38, 2 October 2008 (UTC) reply

  • Splitting is premature as the new ballpark does not yet exist (recall WP:CRYSTAL), and as a result cannot have a history. The timeline is much too detailed and much be trimmed as Wikipedia is not a news organisation. There is much too much undue weight in the article already, and the location of the proposed stadium - if it ever gets built - has not been finalised. 147.70.242.41 ( talk) 19:10, 10 October 2008 (UTC) reply

Before this is moved again

We should discuss this. It seems to me that "Marlins ballpark" is not a proper name, so the title should not be capitalized. It looks like a majority of sources in Google News do not capitalize it. It seems to me that our manual of style says we should not. See Wikipedia:Naming conventions (capitalization). Cool Hand Luke 21:50, 8 November 2008 (UTC) reply

Can everyone settle on a title for this page once and for all :) also if you move the page you should go and fix all the redircts that now are incorrect Smith03 ( talk) 17:31, 26 November 2008 (UTC) reply

Issues facing the construction of the stadium

Here's a new source that will be helpful for the article. It can be used to start a new section for the article since there are a lot of controversies/friction surrounding the construction of this stadium that the article discus in detail.

Miami Ballpark New Marlins Ballpark – Until a naming rights deal is reached, the team has referred to the ballpark as "New Marlins Ballpark". It is referred to as such in the respective section of the Marlins' website as well as the official ballpark logo. Given that the team has referred to it as such, I request a move to that name until a naming-rights deal is reached. Tom Danson ( talk) 04:15, 13 November 2011 (UTC) reply

"Firsts" section

The big table listing the various "firsts" at the ballpark was removed due to concerns about WP:UNDUE and WP:INDISCRIMINATE. It's a new ballpark and pretty much anything that happens is a first. That doesn't mean any of it is necessarily notable. Claiming that they're "relevant" without any support and that " Citi Field has the same thing" are unhelpful arguments. Plus, yelling at other users not to delete in all caps smacks of WP:OWN. Please stop that. Mosmof ( talk) 23:30, 8 April 2012 (UTC) reply

Carlos Delgado

Removed Delgado from the relocation section. It had him listed as part of the core of the 2003 team, when he was still in Toronto. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.150.128.63 ( talk) 01:23, 7 July 2012 (UTC) reply

Fence heights?

If anyone knows how high the fences are in this ballpark's outfield, could someone please share that information?

NPOV tag

I added the tag because this article is horrible at keeping to NPOV. The design section reads like a pseudo-intellectual personal essay that seeks to praise the park as being better than other MLB parks, while the finacing section reads like a political hit piece and laundry list of misdeeds. The whole article needs a total rewrite to actually keep with Wikipedia policy, oknazevad ( talk) 23:02, 26 December 2019 (UTC) reply

Marlins ParkLoanDepot Park – New advertiser name per sources; the standard is to use those names for venues in the U.S. or Canada. It's stylized as "loanDepot park" with only the D capitalized, but our article for the advertiser is at LoanDepot, and MOS:TMCAPS applies here. Request for Copyeditor

I strongly urge editors to have a copyeditor revise and re-work this article. Many sections (in particular, the “Planning and Controversy,” “Financing,” and “Design” sections seem to veer into unnecessary and lengthy diatribes about the local politics, events, and persons involved, and ultimately come off as material that would be seen as unpublishable in any other encyclopedia. The excessive information in whole sections themselves could even be boiled down to one sentence for sake of readability. For example, the entire section on “Public funding and lawsuit” could be boiled down to say “the county and the city of Miami debated and subsequently provided a lion’s share of the funds needed to build the stadium. Subsequently, a car dealer contested the legality of providing public funds in a lawsuit concerning this” or something to that effect. Also the entire section on the mayoral recall can be boiled down to one sentence in similar vain.

In essence, I strongly urge the editors of this article to bring in a copyeditor. I’m not familiar with the mechanisms on Wikipedia to start this process, but if there is, I strongly urge you all to initiate it. Thank you. 2601:587:200:DFA0:3941:1E8B:7B6F:AA00 ( talk) 16:58, 6 May 2021 (UTC) reply

If there are no objections, I will copy-edit and condense the above-mentioned sections. I plan on using Yankee Stadium and Dodger Stadium as inspiration to rework this article, as those are notable articles that seem to provide an excellent template for a prototypical baseball stadium related Wikipedia article. 2601:587:200:DFA0:7475:B3A6:3880:DF3D ( talk) 14:32, 15 May 2021 (UTC) reply
Hi everyone, I have copyedited the sections up to the Design section. I have applied hidden tags to the the sections that I have copyedited, and placed them into this talk section. I may leave the Design section as is, but if you find a way to streamline what seems to be paragraphs of quotes, be my guest and copyedit it. I also want your opinion on how the article looks now compared to before I started this renovation, so that someone can evaluate and delete the content within the hidden tags if you all want to ratify my changes. Please comment what you think. 73.205.211.130 ( talk) 20:16, 15 May 2021 (UTC) reply
