Located 38 miles north of downtown San Diego, Camp Pendleton covers over 125,000 acres and approximately 200 square miles of terrain. The stretch of shoreline along the base-- 17½ miles -- is the largest undeveloped portion of coastal area left in Southern California.
Wikipedia already has the size of 29 Palms: Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms
[T]he entire installation is far larger in area (approx. 932 sq mi.).
As such, its a rather rediculous claim that Pendleton is the largest Marine base.
Is anyone interested in creating a section where we break down the individual Camps/areas on the base and give a quick description followed by units that are based there?? WIlling to try anything to make this page look better. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Looper5920 ( talk • contribs) .
I really can't speak to the wildlife on base but I can get started on a few of the different camps and areas and hopefully others can add and improve. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Looper5920 ( talk • contribs) .

It may be my reading of it, but I feel that there is a significant bias in the POV of the article. There are some areas (the one that caught my eye the most was the Vietnam War portion in the History section). I don't know how best to edit it to instill a NPOV without upsetting anyone. What about the Naval Weapons Station (detachment) on the Fallbrook side of base? -- Cuervo, not logged in, 76.201.16.51 15:02, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
As well as no mention of the Navy's Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC) command at Assault Craft Unit 5, across the freeway from Edson Range. ACU-5 has been a tenant of MCB Camp Pendleton since 1984. Nukechaser ( talk) 00:07, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Does anyone know if Camp Pendleton was affected by the Californian wildfires? Vladiator 21:44, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
Hello,
I recently came across a site that would be nice to include in the external links section of this article. The site is a directory which lists all sorts of businesses and services around the Camp Pendleton area. Since people looking at this page are most likely living there or moving there, it would be a nice resource for viewers to have access to. Is there a way that the link could be added in that link section?
Thanks! WG2012 ( talk) 18:17, 5 February 2014 (UTC)WG2012 — Preceding unsigned comment added by WG2012 ( talk • contribs) 17:12, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

Something missing from the history is how the USMC acquired the parcel(s) from Flood/O'Neill, and under what terms. knoodelhed ( talk) 04:23, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
I don't know but the inland san onofre state beach campground is "courtesy of" camp pendleton whatever that means. 172.58.19.27 ( talk) 02:16, 9 June 2022 (UTC)
Camp Pendleton has a bombing schedule which involves frequent bombing and rapid-fire shooting, and their explosions can be heard up to 50 miles away. https://www.pendleton.marines.mil/Main-Menu/Base-Information/Noise-Advisory/ . This is noteworthy and deserves its own section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.58.19.27 ( talk) 02:15, 9 June 2022 (UTC)
