Some things to look into

Some things to look into for this article are- the creation of Albany (or at the time Beverwyck) as a village (in dutch- dorpe) by Stuyvesant the Dutch Governor-General at the time and the subsequent argument between Stuyvesant and the Patroon. The continued refusal of the Patroon's to not recognize Albany even into the English rule and Dongan finally having the Duke (and later as King James) step in to say Albany was separate legally from the patroonship.

  • The Leisler Rebellion and how it affected Albany and the patroonship
  • The Livingston Manor and its incorporation into and separation from Rensselaerwyck, right now the current info is a bit vague and not completely correct, please see Albany Chronicles by Cuyler Reynolds and other great books on Google books on Albany history as they are well above and beyond anything currently published today on Albany history which tend to be crap. Many of those sources can be found on the History of Albany, New York article.
  • Information on the Manor House, which was moved to RPI and then a college in Massachusetts and then demolished.
  • Info on the Manor/Patroonship having its own court system parallel and separate to Albany County. Separate representation to state legislatures, and state congresses on deciding representation to the Continental Congress, which is slightly mentioned and expanded in a foot note, I would eliminate the footnote and add it to the main body and expand as to why and how.
  • Info on the Rent Wars which brought about the end of the patroonship. Info on how there are still stipulations (not enforced) in property titles regarding goats, crops, quitrents and such to be given to the Patroon. Slightly mentioned in article, needs expansion, do not recall seeing the words "Rent War" or as wikipedia uses Anti-Rent War

I can once i get caught back up at work from being gone. I'm going to have to try and find the name of the user that does much of the new netherland articles and see if he would like to add anything here, plus the New Netherland series template should probably be added to the article as well. I'll start getting sources put together and start adding things sometime tomorrow probably. I already have on a sandbox a "family tree" showing the breaking up of the Manor into smaller and smaller towns in Albany and Rensselaer counties, similar to the Albany County breakup one on the CD article, if it would be of use to the article let me know and we can ask to get it professionally done like the county version was. Something I found

Citations.

In the list of citations, do the "Spooner", "Sylvester", and "van Rensselaer" items relate to the books under the Bibliography section by similarly-named authors? Isn't the first instance of a citation given in an article supposed to be given in full, with only the subsequent citations given in the shortened form? Or is it different in Wikipedia?
