This article is written in
British English, which has its own spelling conventions (colour, travelled, centre, defence, artefact, analyse) and some terms that are used in it may be different or absent from other
varieties of English. According to the
relevant style guide, this should not be changed without
broad consensus.
On 2 December 2012, it was proposed that this article be
moved to
Melaka City. The result of the discussion was not moved.
Convert templates are needed at a number of places.
No dablinks, no copyvio detected.
There is no problem with the content itself, but I think the article should have gone to the
GOCE first. At several places I feel the prose is not of GA standard, and it might make more sense to review this after a copyeditor has tried their best to improve the prose and presentation.
Corinne, what are your thoughts on this?
Nevertheless, I will try to comment on points other than prose for now.

Lead
Per
WP:MOSLEAD, the lead should not contain too many pronunciation keys as they might look like clutter. You always have the infobox for that purpose.
It is one of the Malaysian oldest cities "oldest Malaysian cities" Y
with the other being Alor Setar and George Town "after Alor Setar and George Town" (if Alor Setar is the oldest) Not done — Based on the
List of oldest continuously inhabited cities, seems Malacca is the oldest.
Presently the lead covers only history. It must cover all the important aspects of the article and be 3 to 4 paras long — Maybe this
Cerevisae can help. :D DoneCerevisae (

Sainsf I saw it too. I added a primary source for the Köppen climate classification statement. I will try to find other sources if I have the time.

Can we have a quantitative perspective on this, for example the recent GDP data? See

Molecule Extraction. I and Corinne discussed this article on my talk page. Corinne will be copyediting the article as far as she can, and we here will try to fix other issues. But if the nominator does not respond by 11 June, we will have to fail this, but improvements can keep happening.

Closing note: Per the discussions above, I have tried to review this article as far as I could. The main problems here are that the nominator has been absent for more than a week after this review began and we have no idea when they will return. Secondly, the prose needs copyediting so that one can clearly understand what it means and then review it. I have enlisted issues unrelated to the prose, many of which the kind volunteer editors have tried to resolve. But at the moment I will have to fail this nomination due to inactivity on the part of the nominator. I hope the article is improved and renominated soon.
