Yes, I think all places are "geographical" places. So merge with List of geographical places in Hawaii makes sense. Although this seems to be just a list of towns, not mountains, bays, points, beaches, islands, etc. perhaps one articles with a list of "places", with one list of towns and another of other names? Or one long list? Often there is a bay and town of the same name, for example. Or maybe just put in some category links?

All the links to "Hawaii" need to changed to Hawaii County, Hawaii, not the state link. List of cities in Hawaii seems to redirect to List of geographical places in Hawaii, which is really a list of "unincorporated communities".

Also the "number of counties" colum ~;n can be removed since it is always "1". And Honolulu is the only town with more than one zip code, so probably get rid of that last column too. I think the names should be spelled with proper punctuation, even when the article titles do not use ʻokina or kahakō.

CDPs vs Unincorporated Communities

I recently added a list to this article that includes only CDPs recognized by the United States census, as well as population data. This list was added in the same format as most other "List of Cities in [U.S. State]" pages, which means a toggle chart that also shows county seats and state capitals. I would suggest that we remove the original list that includes what seems to be every inhabited plot of land in the entire state and rename the article itself to "List of Census-Designated Places in Hawaii". Listed unincorporated communities, especially without any population information, just leads to a sea of red links and a lack of information. Furthermore, included a list of zip codes for each unincorporated community is likewise irrelevant information when compared to similar-styled lists.

This page would be much more useful in general, as well as much more accordant to similar lists, if we made it CDP-focused exclusively. General Banzai ( talk) 03:01, 7 August 2013 (UTC) reply
