So many sections! Should it all be a table instead?

-I agree. Also this whole article isn't that great; like someone just threw it together. There's no standard way of organizing the info and not every street is listed. It needs a lot of work. —Preceding

11th street
11th Street is cut off between Broadway and 4th Avenue, yet it's listed as being in one section. Anyone know the lengths of the two sections? —Preceding

If this article isn't going to contain all the streets in Manhattan, shouldn't it be renamed "List of numbered cross-town streets in Manhattan"?

Would you like to add every single street in Manhattan to this page? It covers the major ones that run through the city, the title does not say list of "all" the streets in Manhattan.

I think the recent edits by
66.55.12.1 improved the article by adding significant details about the higher numbered streets, trimming and consolidating sections, and improving some spelling. The edit summaries of the reversions of these edits by
User:Beyond My Ken are a) missing the point; b) empty; c) WP:IDONTLIKEIT; c) cryptic ("LGV")?. A complete reversal of 66.55.12.1's edits was unwarranted and I suggest to restore them and discuss the merits of their parts. --

"LGV" is standard edit summary abbreviation for "reverting to the last good version". I continue to disagree that the edits of the IP improved the article, but if a consensus of editors here agrees with you, so be it.
Beyond My Ken (

I restored the IP's edits in the 1st-7th Streets section since these seemed to actually improve the grammar. I also think that the info about the missing streets would be better if consolidated, but that seems to be the issue here, so I will wait for consensus.
epicgenius (

They're not a particularly interesting topic per se, so they don't really need to be consolidated, but someone working through the list and seeing missing streets is going to be interested in knowing why those numbers aren't covered. Thus, it makes much more sense, and is more of a service to our readers, to leave the missing streets where they fall chronologically, rather than lumping them into a separate section (although I have no objection to a consolidated section and the chronological listing),
Beyond My Ken (

I suppose that could work as well.

Epicgenius' edits restored what I considered the most commendable parts of 66.55.12.1's contribution. – @
Beyond My Ken: As for "LGV", you might consider adding it to
WP:ESL. --

Thanks, I thought it was there already - or at least on some list. I have added it.

29th and 30th Streets
What happened to 29th Street and 30th Street??
Georgia guy (
talk) 23:37, 11 November 2017 (UTC)reply
Not every street has an entry, i.e. 36th-39th, 60th, 62nd-65th, 67th-71st, 75th-78th, 81st-84th, 87th-88th, etc.
Beyond My Ken (

I don't mean why don't they have articles; I mean why aren't they in this list?? Are they defunct or were they renamed??
Georgia guy (
talk) 23:53, 11 November 2017 (UTC)reply
I've just answered your question: not every street is included on the list. They still exist and have not been renamed.
Beyond My Ken (
talk) 00:27, 12 November 2017 (UTC)reply
But why aren't they on this list??
Georgia guy (
talk) 00:45, 12 November 2017 (UTC)reply
Because nobody added them. Quite possibly, there is nothing interesting to say about them.
Beyond My Ken (
talk) 01:05, 12 November 2017 (UTC)reply
I have to say, however, that I still have a concern people will think that the reason they aren't on this list is because they don't exist. Any way to resolve this??
Georgia guy (
talk) 00:37, 17 November 2017 (UTC)reply
If they have that concern, they can look at Google Maps and see that the streets are still there.

Music Stores
48th Street was the place for musical instruments in the '60s and '70s hosting Manny's, Terminal Music, and We Buy Used Guitars. It was Heaven.

That is very true (Sam Ash was also there) into the early 80s, but the nature of Wikipedia makes it necessary to support that with a source - do you (or anyone else) know of one?
