Column for election method

I know lists like these shouldn't contain too much information, but I think we could add a column to the main table explaining how the Lt. Govs in each state are elected. There are three fairly distinct methods by which someone can become Lt. Gov.: by being the running mate of the governor (as in e.g. Maryland), elected separately on a statewide vote (as in e.g. California), or elected by the state legislature (as in e.g. Tennessee). -- Jfruh ( talk) 20:25, 18 July 2006 (UTC) reply

Arkansas Map Color

I noticed on the map used in this article that Arkansas which currently has no Lt. Governor is colored red to reflect a Republican incumbent. Should that color be changed to reflect the vacancy? -- TommyBoy 18:31, 23 August 2006 (UTC) reply

Nevermind, a new Lt. Governor has been sworn in. -- TommyBoy 01:36, 12 January 2007 (UTC) reply

First in line to succeed

When there is a vacancy in the Lt. Governorship, shouldn't the state be added to the second list so that we know who is next in line for Governor until the Lt. Gov. position is filled?
>Also, it would be good to indicate somewhere which states the person first in line to succeed the Governor is of another political party. NoSeptember 20:02, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Current lieutenant governors (and first in lines of succession) of states of the United States

In light of the coming changes, how does one change the content of the box at the bottom of the page and at the bottom of all the lt. govs' pages? I have looked and looked, but can't figure it out. Metstotop333 08:01, 28 December 2006 (UTC) reply

Maine?

Maine does not have an office for Lt. Gov and yet it is shown on the map, the number adds up to 50 even though it is not on the list. West Virginia, New Hampshire and New Jersey are also missing from the list. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.110.221.182 ( talk) 03:07, 3 May 2007 (UTC) reply

Below the main list, there's a list of states that don't have lieutenant governors. Those states are Arizona, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, West Virginia, and Wyoming. There's a table in the article that lists who is second in line for the governorship of those states. -- Mysdaao 15:11, 5 May 2007 (UTC) reply

tickets

Does anyone have a list that shows which states elect the governor and lt. governor on one ticket vs the states that elect them on seperate tickets? Smith03 17:04, 22 August 2007 (UTC) reply

Misconception

American Samoa, Guam, U.S. Mariana Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico are not "States" of the United States, they are territories. The "table" heading should make this clear, otherwise they are misleading the reader who does not understand the political relationship between the United States and it's territories to question why are there 55 states listed when in truth there are only 50 states of the United States. Tony the Marine ( talk) 04:41, 10 March 2009 (UTC) reply

I have fixed the tables to reflect the reality of the pollitical relationship of the above mentioned territories with the United States. Tony the Marine ( talk) 18:02, 10 March 2009 (UTC) reply

Maps out of date

The maps in the article are now out-of-date, at least with respect to the situation in Kansas, if not the one in New York as well. Unfortunately, they're JPEGs, which are not easily editable. Should we a) find a way to edit them; b) create new SVG maps that are easily changeable; or c) remove them entirely? Powers T 13:32, 1 August 2009 (UTC) reply

Two additional U.S. maps needed

Two additional U.S. maps are needed for this article: 1) a U.S. map displaying the 25 states electing a lieutenant governor on a ticket with the governor, and; 2) an additional U.S. map displaying the 18 states electing a lieutenant governor separately. Alabama

Even though the office of Alabama Lieutenant Governor is now vacant, the office itself still exists. Therefore, let's not be putting it into the 'no LtG' section, with the pres-pro tempore filling in. GoodDay ( talk) 00:59, 11 April 2017 (UTC) reply

The article is called "List of current US lieutenant govs." It really does not make sense if the position is vacant to list the state in the first part as vacant and then in the third part again as either vacant or non-existent. The third list should only contain the five states in which the position currently does not exist. In the first list you could include the name and position of the current successor of governor if the position of lieutenant governor is vacant. -- Cwbm (commons) ( talk) 12:43, 31 July 2018 (UTC) reply

Alteration to "Chosen By" column

Perhaps lieutenant governors who are elected on the same ticket as their respective governors should be separated into those who are selected by gubernatorial nominees after their primaries (e.g. New Jersey) vs. those who run on a ticket during the primaries (e.g. Minnesota and Utah) 2601:87:4200:BAC0:9936:D560:EB92:3459 ( talk) 22:07, 15 August 2022 (UTC) reply
