Cite for Long Lake in the Roosevelt story?

Because there's no mention of it in the Bartleby article linked to, and geographically, it must be questioned. There's a historical marker at the Rt 28 lodge where Roosevelt got the telegram and it is a few miles east of Newcomb, NY, while Long Lake is off to the west of Newcomb. The entry for Long Lake, itself, seems the more accurate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.53.88.245 ( talkcontribs)

You're right, and now, belatedly, it's fixed. -- Mwanner | Talk 00:00, 8 October 2008 (UTC) reply

Main photo

I replaced the Seneca Ray Stoddard photo with one of my own taken recently which I think better illustrates the conditions of the Lake. Stoddard is an important photographer but the photo is blurry and not very clear. I think perhaps a gallery of images (perhaps 3 or 4) would be better but I don't have any from other directions. If the concensus is to keep Stoddard's photo we certainly can but I think a more modern photo, if we are to only have one, is the better choice. -- TheKilimanjaro ( talk) 18:06, 2 October 2015 (UTC) reply

Opalescent River elevation

No citation is provided that the Opalescent River begins at a higher elevation than Lake Tear of the Clouds. Further, per USGS data, at the coordinates that the Opalescent officially begins, the elevation is 4260, which is lower than the lake. I am therefore removing "even though the main stem of the Opalescent River has as its source a higher point two miles north of Lake of the Clouds, and that stem is a mile longer than Feldspar Brook" from the first paragraph.
