Notice of adding unrefenced articles in regards to former personalities

After reading discussions at WP:WikiProject Television Stations and at the Wikipedia Village Pump, the following are rationales used to remind users of the following that applies whenever possible. These statements are useful when adding any former personalities to the list of former employees that worked at the station:

  1. Per WP:NOT, Wikipedia is "not an indiscriminate collection of information." Even though one thing may be true, it does not mean that the info can be added to Wikipedia.
  2. Per WP:V, information that is not verifiable and sourced are usually not permitted.
  3. Per WP:BLP, be especially careful about including unsourced information about living persons.

Verifying information is very important in confirming anchors that are former personalities either through their own Wikipedia articles or via a confirmed external link. For example, accessing directly from the URL provided by a user is simply not enough; information that is currently not listed from the official TV or radio webpage of a station is not verifiable and sourced. Any user may be watching this article, so please be careful. CHAK 001 ( Improvements? Please let me know!) 09:40, 6 August 2011 (UTC) reply

Call Signs

The TV station signed on in 1948 as "KPIX" with no suffix. The "-TV" suffix was added after Westinghouse acquired 1550 AM in 1994, which call sign was changed to "KPIX" with no suffix.

By FCC rules, an AM (standard broadcast) station call sign may not have a "-AM" suffix. When 1550 AM adopted the unsuccessful all-news format, the call sign was changed to "KPIX". The TV station's call sign was changed to KPIX-TV to avoid conflict with the AM station's call sign.
