I took the liberty to fix-up the KABC-TV page, making it a bit more easier to read. What I did is that I put in the news personalities and newscast times into the News programming, and seperated the non-news programs into a newly-created seperate section. ShawnHill 23:19, 20 June 2006 (UTC) reply

For the record, User:Jamesinc303 continues to post erroneous information on the KABC-TV page. I've repaired this vandalism several times over the past couple of weeks.

so, there's been some back and forth the last couple of days - is KABC located in glendale, or los angeles? clearly, the headquarters appear to have moved to glendale. however, the city of record with the FCC - in ABC's statement of ownership filed as recently as october 1, 2007 - is listed as los angeles. i'll let the policy wonks fight it out from here. The station studio is in Glendale, their antenna tower is on Mount Wilson near Pasadena and its signal is said to cover a 90 mile-radius range. The city of license is (and does represent) Los Angeles, but KABC is a regional not limited to local station. KABC on cable channel 10 in the High Desert (i.e. Yucca Valley) and low-power transmitter K67AO channel 12 in Palmdale. It replaced an earlier ABC affiliate station KVVT? based in Lancaster and Victorville in the early 1990s. KABC was on over-air channel 22 in the Palm Springs area until the digital conversion occurred last February. KABC digital transmitters is not on cable in Hemet nor Palm Desert, due to FCC regulations preferred local ABC affiliate KESQ-TV channel 3 and the purpose is for cable subscribers to test out the digital converter boxes. KABC-TV is one of the few ABC stations to air World News at 6:30 p.m. When the network soap opera Port Charles ended its run in 2004, channel 7 expanded its midday newscast to a full hour. KABC-TV currently brands its newscasts as ABC 7 Eyewitness News HD and it airs over 40 hours of live news programming each week, more than any other individual television station in Los Angeles. KABC was the first station in the Los Angeles market to broadcast news in high definition, first with a high definition helicopter and then with a full high definition set (although field reports are generally shot in standard definition widescreen).

The 11:00 p.m. newscast is currently the most watched newscast in Southern California at any hour. KABC newscasts, as well as rebroadcasts of World News, KGO's Eye on the Bay, and other news and educational programming, also repeat on ABC7+ (digital channel 7.2). When breaking news occurs, depending on the magnitude of the situation, regular programming may be shifted to digital channel 7.2, or breaking news coverage may air on channel 7.2.

This was in a previous version of the article a few months ago in a different form but removed for some reason. I added it back. Please discuss before removing it again. Your "changes" were reverted back because they were unnecessary. Reasons are:

• All that stuff about high-definition news and the "most-watched newscast in Southern California" teeters on advertising and promotion, which isn't allowed.
• In these articles, we use the call letters or "channel XX" as often as possible within the text.
• Also, who cares if the meteorologists are AMS-certified? That's trivial. Some editors feel that it is, but it really isn't.
• Removing unused fields in the infobox saves space in the article's size.

Please do not call them "nonsensical" as you did in the comments; that is insulting. I don't mention meteorology. But, KABC was the first station in the market in high definition, and is the top rated newscast in the region. I use KABC on there, as well as channel 7.2. Therefore, I'm still going to object, although as a courtesy I'm not going to put them back yet. However, if another editor disagrees, please put it back in or discuss. You don't own the article. Hello, Please do not add unreferenced names as entries to a list of former employees in articles. Including this type of material in articles does not abide by current consensus and its inclusion is strongly discouraged in our policies and guidelines. The rationales are as follows:

1. WP:NOT tells us, Wikipedia is "not an indiscriminate collection of information." As that section describes, just because something is true, doesn't necessarily mean the info belongs in Wikipedia.
2. As per WP:V, we cannot include information in Wikipedia that is not verifiable and sourced.
3. WP:NLIST tells us that lists included within articles (including people's names) are subject to the same need for references as any other information in the article.
4. Per WP:BLP, we have to be especially careful about including un-sourced info about living persons.

If you look at articles about companies in general, you will not find mention of previous employees, except in those cases where the employee was particularly notable. Even then, the information is not presented just as a list of names, but is incorporated into the text itself (for example, when a company's article talks about the policies a previous CEO had, or when they mention the discovery/invention of a former engineer/researcher). If a preexisting article is already in the encyclopedia for the person you want to add to a list, it's generally regarded as sufficient to support their inclusion in list material in another article. cheers Deconstructhis ( talk) 20:05, 2 April 2011 (UTC) reply

Per WP:LISTPEOPLE, a list of names should not be included in the article unless there are third-party sources to warrant doing so. Just because someone works somewhere does not mean it is relevant to the article; that is what the sources show, relevance. In addition to the Disney-owned TV station, which includes award-winning programming on its schedule such as Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune, hosted by Bob Goeb. it also has two sister radio stations. One is a standalone children's pop music 24/7 station through KDIS, while the other is a standalone sports network through KSPN. The former is locally-based as the local RD station is considered the flagship of the network while the latter is the Los Angeles and West Coast O&O flagship of the ESPN Radio network.

I see there is some disagreement about whether this article needs a copy edit tag. I made a few changes, and I'm sure another editor could find a thing or two to change as well, but overall it looks to be in good shape. I don't believe that the presence of a few minor errors in an article merits the addition of a tag; if that were the case, essentially every article on Wikipedia would earn the tag, and it would not be very useful.
