here's another interesting discussion regarding Mr Bowker: talk:United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization

and the list of Masters of Trinity: Trinity_College,_Cambridge#List_of_Masters below there is a list of "Deans of Chapel" - ie Mr Bowker was really a "Dean of Chapel". Is a Chaplain really noteworthy, as a Chaplain?

A references tag has been on this page since June 2006. None of the material in the opening paragraph is cited, and per discussion in Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/John_Bowker, there is no listing for him in either NCSU or UPenn. If you're in the process of updating the article, add citations for all the information in the first paragraph. Removal of the unsourced information is long overdue. *Spark* 00:07, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

John BowkerJohn Bowker (theologian) – After reading the suggestions found on WP:PRIMARY TOPIC, I do not think Bowker is notable enough to be the primary topic. A Google search returns several hits first for John Bowker (baseball), despite the fact that Bowker has not been very successful in his major league career. Thus, I think that this Bowker's article should be retitled and John Bowker should become a disambiguation page. John Bowker (baseball) could be made the primary topic, but I do not know if he is notable enough for that (or if this guy is unnotable enough for that). • Support. John Bowker should become a dab page. WWGB ( talk) 14:33, 9 April 2012 (UTC) reply
  • Support. Both of these Bowkers are roughly equally notable, one particularly in Google Scholar and UK (BBC), another in US and Japan (Yomiuri Giants), so John Bowker should be a dab. In ictu oculi ( talk) 15:30, 9 April 2012 (UTC) reply
  • Oppose -- The baseball player will be close to NN when he is retired. Where there are only two articles, there is no need to have a dabpage, because the hatnote serves the purpose equally. The number of Ghits and traffic statistics are not necessarily the best measure of notability. Peterkingiron ( talk) 16:23, 9 April 2012 (UTC) reply
  • I understand that the ballplayer will be forgotten (by most people) after his retirement, but I think the theologian may be, for the most part, forgotten after his death as well. Sanfranciscogiants17 ( talk) 16:27, 9 April 2012 (UTC) reply
