To rebuff an editor using the user name Skellands ( talk · contribs) and an ip, there are no sources for King being born at Skellands Farm. His family did originate from the area, and it maybe that King's father, Reverend Dr James King, may have been born there. He is referred to as 'James King of Skellands in the West Riding of the County of York' on the memorial tablet in St Mary Magdalene, Woodstock. His son, Captain James King was not born at Skellands. He was born in Clitheroe in 1750, during his father's occupancy of the livings of Clitheroe and Downham ( 1743-1774). This is attested to in parish records, the Oxford and Canadian Dictionaries of National Biography and the Royal Society.
