Great article, however in the last paragraph: "Anderson was given another shot at redemption when Jones was dropped for the 3rd Test after a poor performance in the preceding game. ". Which test ? PeterGrecian 17:00, 14 September 2005 (UTC) reply

Ah, it doesn't actually state anywhere that that tour was of South Africa. I'll rephrase it. Sam Vimes 17:05, 14 September 2005 (UTC) reply
Great, thanks. I see England cricket team in South Africa in 2004-05 needs doing. So much fun to be had here! PeterGrecian 09:26, 21 September 2005 (UTC) reply

general edit

Hi - I thought this was a cool article, but it was a bit tabloidly and had a fair few clichés. Some remain, but I've revised it a bit - I've also brought it up to date with the Pakistan ODIs - I hope everyone likes it. The preceding unsigned comment was added by PeteinBrum ( talk •  contribs) .

It's good stuff, I think. You're starting your Wikipedia career well. Just remember to sign your posts on talk pages and you'll be fine around here. Sam Vimes 10:15, 4 January 2006 (UTC) reply
Thanks - sorry, I misunderstood how signatures worked. Hopefully I worked it out now - thanks for the tip PeteinBrum

stuff about his marriage

I feel bad about undoing work, but the stuff about his marriage seemed a little bit excessive - bordering on indiscriminate information, e.g."and a wonderful time was had by all" .I've decided to be bold and condense it, but if someone can justify the more verbose version, then by all means revert. What's his record for innings without ducks?

I thought he held the record, but apparently not. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.2.220.4 ( talk) 12:49, 18 November 2012 (UTC) reply

Pictures

There needs to be some pictures added for the series after the 2013 World Cup. No pictures after that, if someone could find some/message a photographer with some with permission to use that would be great. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Beast01998 ( talkcontribs) 06:33, 11 April 2019 (UTC) reply

Page move revert

Hi KingSkyLord, I have reverted your move of this article to James Anderson (cricketer, born 1982) as per WP:PDAB where Anderson is specifically listed as example. Cheers – Ianblair23 (talk) 03:10, 9 November 2019 (UTC) reply

Infobox stats and persistent vandalism

I've just commented out the stats from he infobox entirely to see if that stops the persistent updating of statistics during an innings. I know there are other approaches to take here, but there have been six reverts today changing the number of wickets - all from the same IP address which seems unwilling to discuss anything. I know this is a bit of a nuclear option, but the only other option really is to ask for semi protection. I'll do that as well and then we can decide whether to put the stats back or not. Blue Square Thing ( talk) 17:04, 23 August 2020 (UTC) reply

Blue Square Thing. I have already reported the IP to admins for edit warring. Hopefully they will block them but of course the situation is broader than that. I think semi protection would be a good thing because this type of editing has been going on for a while and not just by that IP. Robynthehode ( talk) 17:14, 23 August 2020 (UTC) reply
Well, it seemed to stop some of the issues. Might be worth using in other situations like this. Blue Square Thing ( talk) 21:30, 25 August 2020 (UTC) reply

Achievements: what about batting?

Isn't the 10th wicket record partnership worth listing as an achievement? Mdrb55 ( talk) 21:08, 9 January 2022 (UTC) reply

It would probably help if we had a citation for it. Or, indeed, for any of that section - or the entirety of 2012 through to 2016. Is it a world Test record? Is it still? Honestly, no clue and we don't have a reference for it. Can you find some and maybe have a go at that whole section for us? Thanks. Blue Square Thing ( talk) 21:17, 9 January 2022 (UTC) reply

The article 'List of Test cricket records' has it as a current record, with a reference to 'cricinfo'. Mdrb55 ( talk) 20:52, 10 January 2022 (UTC) reply

In which case that would seem to be a decent reference to use for that particular bit. It's the rest of the five year span with zero references that I find really concerning. Feel free to search some out and add them. Blue Square Thing ( talk) 14:13, 11 January 2022 (UTC) reply

James Anderson (cricketer) James Anderson (English cricketer) – Since there is also an entry for James Anderson (Australian cricketer) as well as one for another Australian cricketer, James Duncan Anderson, the main title header James Anderson (cricketer) represents incomplete disambiguation and should redirect to the James Anderson#Sports disambiguation page. — Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 05:52, 9 September 2022 (UTC) reply

  • Oppose Jimmy is the primary topic for people looking for a cricketer of this name. WP:INCOMPDAB says In individual cases consensus may determine that a parenthetically disambiguated title that is still ambiguous has a primary topic, but the threshold for identifying a primary topic for such titles is higher than for a title without parenthetical disambiguation. This is a clear case where this part of that guideline applies- we're talking about a cricketer with 200+ international appearances vs someone with a few first-class matches. And Jimmy gets 25-100k views a month, whereas Duncan gets 100 views/month and (Australian cricketer) gets around 40 views/month. [2]
