The article calls Hempstead, incorporated in 1853, the oldest incorporated village in New York, but [1] says other villages were incorprated sixty years earlier. Is our article mistaken? Jim.henderson ( talk) 02:09, 12 January 2008 (UTC) reply

• The article doesn't call Hempstead the oldest incorporated village in New York. It calls it the oldest incorporated village in Queens County and in Long Island.
