I found significant similarities between Tuluva history (!!) with that of Havyaka. Tulu script Tigalari has been found in significant numbers in present day Havyaka populated areas of Shimoga. Tuluva history is prominently of sthanika tulu brahmins having an history from 380 BCE.When havyaks came in later part of 9th AD these cultural admixing is seen. Shivashambo ( talk) 09:42, 17 February 2019 (UTC)

Havyakas are a distinct community. Unlike other castes, they have a distinct and powerful dialect with close resamblence to Tamil. This should not be merged with caste. This should remain here.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.85.127.139 ( talk • contribs)
If the page is about Havyakas, then it should be part of the category caste. The problem is
all of Havyaka Kannada speakers are Brahmins, which is definitely a caste identity. Let's
consider another dialect of Kannada,
Kunda Kannada. This dialect is spoken by all the
castes in
Kundapura. So if you are writing an article about Kundas, then it's about
a community that speaks that language. However, speakers of Havyaka Kannada are Brahmins
and in perspective a caste.
However, I would like to see more information on topic. Like description of Havyaka surnames. I hope there would be more research on the surname 'Bhatta'. Prominent members: It has been advised not to publish the list of Prominent members in the Havyaka Brahmin Wiki page. This item needs to be deleted because there are hundreds of prominent persons/people in this community and we just cant name a few. It will also create controvercy. So better delete it. If anyone wants so then they can create a separate page with a heading like Prominent members of Havyaka Community and so on. It is against the policy of Wikipedia to accept anything without any third party reference. "Encyclopedic content must be verifiable" As far as I understand third party references are rarely available to many Havyaka Members. Further as I can see that many have put like "Leading Agriculturist". In that way all the Havyaka' stand to be called as Leading Agriculturist. So I would appreciate if you create entirely another page of Prominent Havyakas and link to this page. It looks odd. Featuring only a few is a great injustice to others and featuring everyone is not possible without third party references. If there are more than 100 prominent havyaks, please add them to list and please do not remove the added prominent havyaks from the list. They are approved by wiki. Notable is a reserved work on wiki. If you think there are so many, I ask you to write them on wiki and wiki consensus will decide whether they are notable to wiki. There is a difference - notable to wiki and notable to someone (It has to be proved to wiki, not to some individual). You may delete them who are not notable on wiki. I suggest you to look into the notables from the other articles. Thanks.

I fully agree with you. I have no objection to place the names of those who are notable to wiki. But I have strong objection for those who just go on placing their names without any third party reference. Relation to namboodiri brahmins is questionable since nambi the most orthodox of all brahmins consider all other brahmins inferior to themselves.they only relation they reluctantly agree is with the shivalli brahmins of tulu nadu who are also in kerala around trivandrum and are called erabrandiri. I have understood that havyaka popultion is three lakhs referring to the book 'havyakara ithihasa Dharshana' by H.M.Thimmappa of page no 255. 1.havyaka Brahmins are Aryan Brahmins 2. They came from Ahichatra of Uttarakhand and Uttar pardesh. 3.The havyak Brahmins surname are Bhat, Hegde,Joshi, Upadhyay and dixit. 4. There origin are Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. 5. They were doing pooja then agriculture now they are seen employed and doing business. 6.They are in Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Uttar kannada district cities and villages , Hubli and many more cities. - I am going to clean the article up because it is a big mess. It is true that the Havyakas originated in Northern India (Ahicchatra) but they have lived in South India since 7th or 8th century AD so claiming that Havyakas are "Brahmins of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand" is sorely misleading. By that logic, we are all "from" Africa as the human species originated there, but we do not say that about every ethnicity, do we?
