Trains

Where do the B, D, 4, 5, and 6 trains cross the river? They aren't listed here. Digamma 20:01, 17 July 2006 (UTC) reply

Listed. Epicgenius ( talk) 19:38, 14 January 2015 (UTC) reply

Tide

Does the Harlem River actually FLOW? If so, which way? The text makes it sound like it goes from the East TO the Hudson, but that seems unlikely. If anything, wouldn't it carry a little bit of the Hudson's volume eastward? In any event, please clarify. Spark240 ( talk) 21:38, 5 September 2008 (UTC) reply

It says "tidal" thus both ways. Do we need a link that will explain that word? Jim.henderson ( talk) 20:32, 11 September 2008 (UTC) reply
The Harlem River goes either way, depending on the tides. But yes, I consider this to be quite an oddity that this "river" flows both ways, hence some explanation would be good. The picture at the straits article is quite self-explanatory. But why are the levels of the two connecting waters different depending on the tides? The ocean is so close! So instead of just a link, it could be nice to explain the tidal levels for this particular case. 129.236.254.108 ( talk) 13:56, 3 August 2009 (UTC) reply
Well, yes, it's part of the tidal system of New York Harbor, which article doesn't even mention the word "tide". And this system is one of the more complex among world harbors, approximatly as complex as those of San Francisco or Basra or Calcutta. I, alas, lack the expertise to do more than vaguely appreciate the complexity. Jim.henderson ( talk) 03:32, 6 August 2009 (UTC) reply

Request for color-blind friendly image

The image/map on this page cannot be understood by the one in twelve white males who suffer from red-green color blindness. Please can someone with color sight update this image so I can see it? Perhaps a map/drawing might be easier to distinguish than a satellite photo. Thanks. Andrew Oakley ( talk) 11:32, 18 November 2008 (UTC) reply

I guess I have Deuteranopia and cannot see the Harlem River! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.100.45.126 ( talk) 02:38, 15 May 2009 (UTC) reply

Significant copyvio

Most of this article was created with this cut-and-paste edit in 2010: https://en.wikipedia.org/?diff=374372566 Even if Dhollm ( talk · contribs) were to obtain a copyright release (which they did not), the reliability of the source is unclear. That the writing was lifted from somewhere was abundantly obvious; it is surprising it remained undetected for over nine years. It is my understanding that an admin will have to scrub the history because of the extensive interim edits. SandyGeorgia ( Talk) 00:34, 21 November 2019 (UTC) reply

Took some digging to confirm, because the source site ( http://ccgsapp.org/Archive/HP/2003-2004/history.html) doesn't exist any more, but yes this was copied and pasted directly and then tinkered with, but the majority of content was completely unchanged (just wikified) even now. Revisions all deleted. Fish+ Karate 11:25, 22 November 2019 (UTC) reply
@ Fish and karate and SandyGeorgia: Just noticed this today. While I agree that the copyright violations are problematic, almost all of the non-copyright-violating sections of this page have been deleted, including those that I had to retrieve from a 2010 version of this article. Not that I care too much, but I just wanted to note that the pre-2010 text has been re-added. I will begin working on adding non-copyrighted information to this page. epicgenius ( talk) 17:59, 30 December 2019 (UTC) reply
Unfortunately it’s not possible to only selectively delete parts of an article. I appreciate this is a pain. Fish+ Karate 19:07, 30 December 2019 (UTC) reply
