Having just recently become aware of
MIM, and perusing its archives, the writing style is fresh in my mind. Having also just recently become aware of La Riva, and reading a bit of her
blog, I've noticed a strikingly similar (albeit toned down) style that switched on a light bulb in my head. Could this be mere coincidence, or does La Riva = "MIM"? This isn't a witch-hunt or smear; I'm passing no judgments, just wondering if I'm the first to think of this.
No, Gloria La Riva never supported or was a part of the defunct MIM. Having read a lot about the MIM in the past and argued with them online, (I was even slandered in the "MIM Notes" (newspaper) once), I can say this for certain. Her political views and writing style are also quite different. However, lets keep in mind the
Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines, as I do not think this is the appropriate forum for such discussion.

It's entirely appropriate. If La Riva were in fact the primary MIM writer, that would be encyclopedic. But I'll try to remember to get your permission before asking any more questions. —Preceding

User:Saxones288 has added the term "perennial candidate" to the lead of this article on 4 separate occasions. Please stop and discuss it here. If you have sources which call her as such, please post them. The
WP:ONUS is on editors seeking to add new content, especially one that is often considered a political slur on a

The term "perennial candidate" has been on this page since March of 2020, linked to under the term "tenth consecutive candidacy". So this is not new content. Additionally, she has run in every presidential campaign since 1984 (this is her 10th time running in the presidential election), 3 gubernatorial races, and many other elections. She has won none of those elections. Others have been described as "perennial candidates" for less — this is an accurate description.

You need to provide sources and, as discussed at
Howie Hawkins, it should definitely not be in the lead. She is notable primarily as a socialist activist and writer. Prejudicial labeling comes off as electioneering.--
User:Namiba 13:53, 1 October 2020 (UTC)reply
This is not prejudicial labeling, it is accurate. Removing "perennial candidate" from someone who has run in 10 presidential elections (in addition to numerous other races) is really what comes off as electioneering.
The text on this page that says tenth consecutive candidacy, which is in the lead, links to the "perennial candidate" page, and has been like this since March. Adding the term "perennial candidate" is not a change, but is already the consensus.

Do reliable sources describe her as such? While you may not think that the term is loaded with negative connotations, it is. For example,
Safire's Political Dictionary describes it as an "attack phrase".--18:29, 8 October 2020 (UTC)
