Tornado 3/14/08

Possible tornado damage to the dome during SEC tournament? any info? -- 70.145.205.224 ( talk) 02:31, 15 March 2008 (UTC) reply

Football/Soccer

I'm not sure of all the details, but the games in the late 2000s were not the first soccer games in the Georgia Dome. The first were played in the mid-90s when America hosted the FIFA World Cup, if I'm recalling right. 168.12.253.66 ( talk) 19:06, 22 July 2009 (UTC) reply

The Georgia Dome was not a venue of the 1994 FIFA World Cup. The late 2000s soccer games were the first held in the Georgia Dome. Jim856796 ( talk) 21:54, 17 May 2010 (UTC) reply

Wrestlemania

How could Wrestlemania 27 set an attendance record at 71,000 when the SEC Championship game drew over 75,000? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.214.0.35 ( talk) 20:07, 6 April 2011 (UTC) reply

Not the largest indoor facility in the States anymore?

Cowboys Stadium is the largest domed structure in the world now, which would seem to contradict this statement. However, sources aren't cited for either statement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.232.51.123 ( talk) 18:45, 26 November 2011 (UTC) reply

Other events

The Other events section is entirely unsourced. If the section is to be retained at all, it should contain only events that can be established as notable, as indicated by reliable sources.-- Jeffro77 ( talk) 05:03, 18 November 2014 (UTC) reply

What is "Home Depot Backyard"?

I tagged "Home Depot Backyard" with a need for explanation: It isn't obvious what this is. I suspect it's a known entity for Atlanta locals, but those of us who aren't local need more info. I would have been content to link to another Wikipedia article, but I can't fine one. -- Esobocinski ( talk) 06:03, 22 May 2019 (UTC) reply

I'm not a local either. The whole section isn't written all that well, but the answers are found (actually "hidden") in the section and the sources. From the last sentence of the first paragraph under that section, Georgia Dome#Demolition: "On April 21, 2017, GWCCA officials announced that The Home Depot acquired the naming rights to the 13-acre (53,000 m2) park to be built on part of the Georgia Dome site." The sources cited at the end of the sentence you added the tag to, especially the second one also elaborate on this: "The 11-acre green space will be used for tailgating and game day events for the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United." Even the rest of the tagged sentence calls it "the new park".
In order to make it clear, we could combine the sentences covering this into one section titled "Home Depot Backyard" after the "Demolition" section, and make it more explicit that this is a park/greenspace. We can also create a redirect linking to that section from Home Depot Backyard so that anyone searching for the term would be directed to that section. If the section ever becomes too large, then it could be split off to its own article in place of the redirect. - BilCat ( talk) 08:33, 22 May 2019 (UTC) reply
Upon further thought, it might be better to create a new section in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and link to it from this article without making a new section. Either way would work. - BilCat ( talk) 08:41, 22 May 2019 (UTC) reply
