I did not vandalize the page when I "struck" through a section!

The paragraph that I deleted is utterly false. There was never a rebellion at Valle Crucis!!! Show me even a semblance of evidence for this event and I will apologize. Brad1002 06:49, 21 December 2006 (UTC)Brad reply

Well, the appropriate way to do that would have probably been to add a tag for a citation and discussing it on the talk page first. At the very least, be sure to mention on the talk page why you did it and give a bit of an account of why you think it's false. I think your edit was in good faith though. You might want to see Wikipedia:help for some useful info on contributing. I am not seeing any information on this online other than on wikipedia and it's mirrors either though. I'm going to remove it and if anyone can find a citation (which I doubt), we'll put it back in. Oh, and btw, never comment in the article itself, do that here on the talk page. And SINCE 1971??????

Did the Gay liberation end in 1971 or what?

1969

This section contained the following remark: "In June of 1969, when a group of patrons of the Stonewall Inn (led by black and Hispanic transpeople)..." The parenthetical qualification is historically incorrect, and I have removed it. David Carter's excellently researched book on these events cites the eyewitness reports of both black and white sources who state clearly that while the Stonewall Inn had a racially mixed clientele, it was mostly white, with Latinos and blacks being a smaller percentage of the crowd. As a patron of the Stonewall I can verify that this was absolutely the case. Photos of the rioting crowds show racially mixed groups, but blacks are a minority. As noted in Carter's book, Duberman's earlier and less reliable book, and elsewhere, neither people in drag nor transsexuals were ever more than the tiniest fraction of the crowd. The Stonewall Inn was an illegal premises (it had no NY State liquor license) and it was located on a well-traveled street in the heart of Greenwich Village, having a steady patronage of drag queens would have brought an unwanted and dangerous degree of neighborhood attention. Where are the sources of information in this article?

What it says needs to be verified. Michael Glass ( talk) 00:36, 4 March 2008 (UTC) reply

Entrapment

That's a pretty loaded term. I strongly suggest it be changed... TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 14:04, 15 November 2012 (UTC) reply

Where do the references come from?

Some of the references for this article are mysterious. Three of the references are apparently letters but there is no information about if/where these are published. There is also a 'HarperOne' reference and a 'Hansen' reference - I have no idea what these refer to. These are almost the only references for the entire Vanguard section, so they need to be fixed or the section removed. Leschnei ( talk) 00:16, 4 November 2016 (UTC) reply

Please help clean up this mess of an article

The content under 1960s, particularly the 1969 section, is a confusing mish-mash of dates, names and places. I realize different writers contribute to articles, but part of editing a section is making sure whatever you add dovetails with rest of article. Geesh. It's getting late, I'm getting cranky, so I'll take a break and return to this entry later. Meantime, any queens wanna collaborate on cleaning up this mess? Lemme know. Ugh.
