Edit request for updating and expanding the article

I would like to request the following changes to the article:

  • Add the following source to the Early life section [1] to support the information there.
  • In the Career section's first paragraph:
Add this source to support his current role at Estee Lauder. [2]
Add this content to expand the existing paragraph: Freda is directly involved with the the company's fragrance line. [3] He implemented the ESG Commitment, which aims to make Estee Lauder Companies Inc. more eco-friendly. This initiative has led the company to build a wind farm, install solar panels in factories, increase the use of organic and natural materials in their products, and pledge that at least 75% of their packaging will be reusable or recyclable by 2025. Freda also introduced a philanthropic structure during the Covid pandemic which raised $10 million dollars in employee donations that was distributed to colleagues who were experiencing financial difficulty. [4]
  • Also in the Career section, in the second paragraph about his previous role as president at Procter & Gamble's Global Snacks Division, add the following sources [5] [6]
  • Delete the third sentence of the Career section which references outdated compensation data. Replace it with the following information and source: In 2022, Freda's compensation was $25.48 million. [7]

Not done for now: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format. For example, "including additional information" is not clear and does not allow reviewers to accurately assess your request. Actualcpscm ( talk) 17:27, 31 May 2023 (UTC) reply
Sophie-esteelauder, please be aware that it's almost never appropriate to delete another user's comments or replies on article talk pages. I don't really mind in this case, and I understand that you did so for readability, but it is very much frowned upon and considered bad practice. For more information on this, see WP:TPG and especially WP:TPO. I'm going to take a look at your proposal now. Actualcpscm ( talk) 14:37, 2 June 2023 (UTC) reply
Your second suggestion gives undue weight to the environmental efforts in question. Since there is only one cited source reporting on this matter, it would be excessive to describe it in such detail, especially because the article is primarily about Freda as CEO and not the environmental efforts.
I dont see the added value of reference 5, aside from promoting Freda.
I don't think that a "Board participation" section is necessary, this content would better fit into a subsection entitled "Other activities" or something along those lines.
In the last section, the personal commentary that this is "one of Italy's more prestigious awards" is unnecessary.
I suggest you write a new suggestion (instead of editing the current one), taking this feedback into account, and ping me when you're done. Remember that Wikipedia should not be used for advertising or promotion, nor for personal commentary. If you have a question or concern about the relevant policies, don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page or the lovely people at the Teahouse. Actualcpscm ( talk) 14:46, 2 June 2023 (UTC) reply

  1. ^ Per WP:INTEGRITY, its not clear which statements the references are meant to support. The edit request should include verbatim descriptions of any text the sources are to be added to.
  2. ^ It's not clear what is meant by "directly involved". Additionally, it's not clear what is meant by "philanthropic structure".
  3. ^ A verbatim description of the text to be removed must be included with the request.
  4. ^ The Council for Inclusive Capitalism and the Advisory Board of the Global Business Initiative are not independently notable.
  5. ^ Per WP:BLPAWARDS, the Ordine al merito del lavoro is not independently notable. If this is not the case, please provide the WikiLink for the award.

Thank you for your feedback, Spintendo.
  • Regarding note 1, I have added these additional sources directly, as uncontroversial edits to bolster the encyclopedic information that is already present in the article.
  • Regarding note 2, in the Career section, I would like to add the following sentences after “He had joined the company in March 2008, when he was appointed president and chief operating officer.”:
Freda is a partner in developing fragrances for Estee Lauder. [1] Freda implemented the ESG Commitment, which aims to make Estee Lauder Companies Inc. more eco-friendly, [2], and he introduced a philanthropic initiative during the Covid pandemic which assisted colleagues who were experiencing financial difficulty. [3]
  • Regarding note 3, in the Career section, please delete this sentence, as it is outdated: His total calculated compensation in 2016 as chief executive officer, president and director at The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. was $48,369,401.

I hope this clarifies the edit request. Thank you for your attention. Sophie-esteelauder ( talk) 15:45, 6 July 2023 (UTC) reply

Thank you for your reply. The claims regarding making the company eco-friendly, its philanthropic initiatives and his work developing fragrances should only be added if the references are from high quality reliable third party sources. Also, claims that are "outdated" are not automatically removed from an article unless they are incorrect. Regards,  Spintendo  13:24, 25 July 2023 (UTC) reply
Spintendo, thanks again for this. I'd ask that you reconsider your exclusion of Freda's ESG and philanthropic initiatives as the information is supported by reliable, quality third-party neutral sources including, Women's Wear Daily, Whitewall Fashion Magazine and The Cavalieri del Lavoro news publication (covering news about the recipients of Italy's highest civilian honor).
Similarly, with regard to Freda's salary details (note 3 above), it seems incongruous and unencyclopedic for his article to include a 2016 figure followed by the 2022 figure. Wouldn't it be more appropriate to include just the most recent information or delete all the compensation figures entirely? Sophie-esteelauder ( talk) 13:50, 2 August 2023 (UTC) reply
