The diagram is included only to provide a quick ref to the commentary in the article, not replace the official resource. Link is 404

In the References section, the USAF Flight Test Center Museum link goes to a 404 page. I tried to edit it but can't. North Base Correction

In the North Base section of the article, the statement about the proximity of the 95th Security Forces Squadron to the "secret" hangars is inaccurate. I was a senior ranking member of the squadron when we moved from our old location on the Main Base to the new one on the North Base in late 2004. The move was made because the old building was constructed in the late 50's/early 60's and was no longer suitable for the size the squadron had grown to and our operational needs. When the 18th Space Surveillance Squadron deactivated in 2004, their building became the only one available that met the needs of the SFS (size and immediate availability). Now, the 18th SSS may have had something to do with the North Base mission, but we weren't involved with that. All we were concerned with was getting a new facility that more than tripled our total office space and allowed for continued growth for future operations. On a side note, the only working relation we had with the North Base operations was to provide, when requested, military working dog support for explosives and drug detection. Beyond that we never worked or interacted with them because they have their own contracted security and are almost entirely self-sufficient (from a security stand point). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.34.248.10 ( talk) 18:34, 12 February 2010 (UTC) reply

Around the world flight took place at Edwards?

In Overview section... I have no idea what this is supposed to mean. Did the flight originate there? Did it land there? Both? As it is now, it makes no sense.

Bullet to subsection, #Associate Units

Hi y'all, I came across a Wikilink in Air Force Research Laboratory#Propulsion Directorate which failed to reach it's target and defaulted to the top of the page. Furthermore, the Table-of-Contents provided no clear cues as to where the link had been intended to take the reader. Upon examination, this situation seemed largely due to the subsections of Edwards Air Force Base#Associate Units being listed as bullet points rather than with traditional subsection markup. In addition to targeting issues, when presented as bullet points there was also a lack of bold text to set apart the subsection headings which made finding the relevant info difficult even by manually scrolling through the article. I eventually resorted to my web browser's search function.

This process seemed, among other things, to fail the 'least surprise' standard for readers attempting to follow links and find information in the article so I've transitioned the section from bullet points to standard subsections. This has left the existing indented formatting intact while bold-facing the headings and adding them to the ToC.

Name change

PDF Download

Some of the sidebar information is missing in the rendered PDF, specifically: USA_California_location_map.svg, Edwards_Air_Force_Base_-_Main_-_2006.jpg, Edwards_Air_Force_Base_-_Rogers_Dry_Lake_CA_2006.jpg, and the Airfield Summary and Runways sidebars.

I thought the entire page would be rendered as a PDF, and was disappointed so much was not included.

I'm interested because I was a member of the JSC team in the 80's that measured lakebed hardness (via soil penetrometer studies). We confirmed the hardness of the lakebed runway varied along its length and changed from year to year. The study verified the ORES lakebed landing simulation anomalies we'd seen were based on reality.

Was Edwards damaged in the July 2019 Earthquakes?

I was reading this page and also looking at the Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake to see the difference between the two facilities.

I noticed in the last paragraph under China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station that China Lake suffered massive damage ($Billions) during those earthquakes, the epicenter being underneath the facilities.

Edwards is only 55 miles away. So I was wondering if there were any effects at Edwards?

Runway adjustments

Appears to me as a layperson that at least two of the runways have had their numbers adjusted due to magnetic drift. At least, from what I can see on the current page on AirNav. Military

Is it possible to remove the USMC Squadron based on Edwards, designation VMX-1? They no longer have a detachment there testing the F35b as of October 2019. They moved to MCAS Yuma, Arizona with their mothership command. Sheabutter98 ( talk) 23:55, 7 June 2022 (UTC) reply
