Last Will and Testament of Doris Duke

We wish to advise everyone that we (the Living Trust Network) have a copy of Doris Duke's Last Will and Testament posted on our website, which we believe is of interest to anyone seeking information about the life of Doris Duke. This is one of those facts that either needs a reference or needs to be deleted. I looked up the will on the site listed under external links and could find no mention of any Newton, let alone Isaac. I removed the following text which was un-sourced and appeared to be POV. If proper sources can be found it can be edited and re-inserted into the article.

  • drove to the house where Tirella got out of the rental vehicle to open up the large cast-iron gate at the end of the driveway. At that point, Duke "accidentally" gunned the car, striking Tirella; then throwing the station wagon in reverse, she dragged his body, snagged by the front fender’s bumper, across the street, ramming him again, dazed and slummed over, against a tree. "Uncontrollably", the auto struck Tirella several more times in quick succession, leaving his mandible as a separate piece, recovered among the bloody debris by the local police- who, as a testament to “a certain efficient nature”, succeeded in their sweeping clean the scene of the event within hours. Within 72 hours even the somewhat mangled lip of that section of the cast-iron gate, which had been entirely unhinged and whisked away on a flatbed truck, had been removed, repaired, and re-installed, as if nothing had happened. Meanwhile, the local police department was unable to retain knowledge of the whereabouts of any crime or accident, and all evidence had been removed from Rough Point's entrance. [1]

Why does the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation link (in this article), redirect to the same article? Net worth

The Net worth section has this complex, ambiguous sentence that needs clarification:

Nanaline was a shrewd business woman, often compared to the "Witch of Wall Street" Hetty Green, and when she died in 1962, she left her daughter, then estimated to be worth $250 million, a fortune tripled what J. B. had left her.

Does the phrase "then estimated to be worth $250 million" refer to "her daughter" or to "a fortune"? Even when that is clarified by re-writing the sentence--preferably splitting it into two sentences--we still have a problem, as follows.

If $250 million refers to "a fortune", and if that's triple "what J. B. had left her", then "what J. B. had left her" would have been about $80 million or so. OK, that's in the stated range of his estate's value. But, he left that estate to both Doris and Nanaline. So, in the phrase "what J. B. had left her" does "her" refer to Doris, or to Nanaline--and how do we know how much went to that person?
If $250 million refers to "her daughter", then that number is mostly irrelevant to the amounts of Nanaline's and J. B.'s estates.

While we're looking at this section, what is the justification for using the abbreviation "J. B."? Presumably, it refers to James Buchanan Duke, but it seems too casual for an encyclopedia article. There is no foundation for that abbreviation in either this article or James' article; and the latter attributes a different nickname to him.

Another phrase that draws my attention is "What many forget to include in Duke's holding was her priceless collection of artwork". Whose opinion is that? It strains credibility to think that anyone with any business estimating the estate's value would overlook such obvious assets.
