The bottom of the Daly City history section contains a sentance about a mysterious blimp landing . This sentence in and out of context has little bearing for an article about Daly City. I have removed it . Helldaemen Oct 17, 2009

Re: Pacific Plaza & Century, Pacific Plaza is an office dev with a cinema and restaurants none of which would qualify as shopping under the wiki definition. (Of course it does! people go the StarBucks and Jamba juice examine the goods for purchase and buy them - Helldaemen Oct 17, 2009 ) Please quote a source recognizing P.P.'s renown (famous? it doesn't hold a candle to Cow Palace or Serramonte) or figures quantifying Century's "most successful" status.(agreed- Helldaemen) -Unknown @ Unknown Date

Does anyone know after whom this city was named? A search for John Daly returns articles on several John Dalys, none of which make any reference to Daly City. Just curious.

Zoe reverted user:64.170.192.126's edit stating that Daly City is "way foggier" than San Francisco. Certainly the contribution was flawed, but may there not be any truth to the content? Any Daly City residents willing to compare their city with SF in terms of fog? There are surely weather stats that can corroborate or disprove this. -- Dpr 05:53, 6 September 2005 (UTC) reply

Yes, indeed! There is a long, definitive explanation of the history of Daly City stating that the city was named after one of its first inhabitants, John Daly: http://www.dalycityhistory.org/overview.htm Oh, and by the way. I am the one who wrote that Daly City is way foggier than San Francisco and here is how I know: I lived on Callan Blvd for 18 years and I've lived in San Francisco now for 4. And I would say that based on my limited evidence, Daly City is truly the fog city (maybe Pacfica).

I made a separate article (stub, for now) for John D. Daly. Seems like a notable historical character himself. Please feel free to help flesh it out. 「 ѕʀʟ· 」 23:35, 21 December 2006 (UTC) reply

As to fogginess in San Francisco, it depends on where you are. Weather in San Francisco tends to be somewhat variable depending on where you are. I've never seen fog in the Mission. Didn't see much in North Beach either. But the Marina District is a regular member of the fog belt, and the Presidio even more so. I imagine the same may apply to Daly City.-- Coro 00:37, 22 December 2006 (UTC) reply

As a user who resides in Daly City, California, I must say this city is actually infamously afflicted with fog, such that some residents joke that the city is foggy due to too many Asians cooking rice. Calmsavior 03:23, 22 June 2007 (UTC) reply

Sister Cities

Sister Cities International [1] does not list any sister cities for Daly City. I made an edit earlier which turned out to be an unconsummated effort by Daly City's Sister City Committee [2] to become a sister city to one in the Philippines. Unless references can substantiate the claims to Albuquerque and Quezon City these entries should be removed. Zedla ( talk) 19:52, 20 December 2007 (UTC) reply

Area inconsistency

The infobox says that the total city area is 20.48 km² and land area is 19.6 km². The article text claims that only the land area (19.6 km²) constitute the total. Anyone who could elaborate on this? / Dcastor ( talk) 21:37, 26 August 2008 (UTC) reply

Unsourced material

The following is unsourced information:

  • The song Little Boxes, written by Malvina Reynolds, is said to be inspired by the visual appearance of houses in Daly City. Many of the houses in Daly City were designed by Henry Doelger after World War II, resulting in the similar architecture of many houses there and in the surrounding areas. They feature flat roofs and predominantly right angles, giving them their famed box-like shape.

While this is interesting, we can't use it unless you provide a source. Also, none of this is really trivia, as trivia by its definition is "unimportant information" - it therefore shouldn't be in a trivia section but instead the information should be incorporated into the main article. - Tbsdy lives (formerly Ta bu shi da yu) talk 12:12, 30 September 2008 (UTC) reply

Serramonte in Daly City???

There are some major screw-ups within this article...first, the Cow Palace is actually in the City/County of San Francisco, NOT Daly City(most of the parking spaces on the south and east ends are actually within the Daly City borders)...and as for the City(Town) of Colma, there is something else besides those cemeteries:the Serramonte Auto Mall, where it's usually required by tradition for the broadcast media to repeatedly refer to the dealers(like Serramonte Ford and Infiniti of Serramonte) as being in "Colma-Daly City" and to say that phrase REALLY FAST!...please correct this ASAP... I could, but since there are a few Daly City-Colma area Wikipedians who might bristle at ANY change I may make to this article...hmmm, I suppose I'll try...wish me luck... Michaela92399 ( talk) 03:12, 12 December 2008 (UTC) reply

Councilwoman fraud charges

I don't feel the fraud charges against the councilwoman at this point. Right now it's only been covered in the San Mateo County Times, with a couple of other outlets picking up the same story. Without any significant coverage, or evidence of a longstanding historical impact, this is overemphasizing breaking news (see WP:NOTNEWS). - Optigan13 ( talk) 01:24, 26 November 2009 (UTC) reply

Photo of Mission Dolores -- Why???

I noted the photo of Mission Dolores (which is actually named Mission San Francisco de Asis -- Mission Dolores is a nickname) in the article on Daly City. I have to wonder why the photo is included in the article on Daly City. Mission Dolores is smack-dab in the middle of San Francisco and not even close to the Daly City limits. Toddabearsf ( talk) 15:00, 19 February 2015 (UTC) reply

The Mission is mentioned in the History section; presumably the photo was added to help readers visualize it.— Stepheng3 ( talk) 21:47, 23 February 2015 (UTC) reply
