As I mentioned earlier on the Los Angeles County Metro Rail discussion page, we shouldn't post our own fantasy maps about what we think the Purple Line should look like in the future. As of yet, there is no official route or even an official stance on a westward extension of the Purple Line. As a resident of the area, I'd love to see the Purple Line continue down Wilshire, and I am eagerly awaiting the upcoming release of the study currently underway on such an extension, but until it comes out, we can't display maps that have no support in reliable references. Please leave a comment on my talk page if you have any thoughts on my deletion of the map. -- SameerKhan 22:00, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
I don't understand why Mr. Yaroslavsky is of the biggest impediments to rail/subway in Los Angeles County. His ban of use of county sales tax revenue for the planning or building of subways, basically has stopped any progress with rail/subway in Los Angeles.
I don't understand what he has against rail/subways. I am not making any claims, but I wonder if the Bus Riders Union is a big contributor to his campaigns and the amount of contributions he gets from the Bus Riders' Union. As I see no reason to ban county sales tax, unless his contributors were against expansion of rail/subway.
Also he was commented in the LA Times about traveling during Peak Times, and how he tells his staff not to schedule any events during Peak traffic times, which is ridiculous, because of his views on rail/subway, and the fact that the rest of Los Angeles workforce has to travel during Peak traffic times.
I think that every high level government official should be forced to travel during peak times at least once every week, just so they can get a sense of what it is like for the rest of Los Angeles population.

The purpose of this change is to replace a less-well-known, technical name ("LACMTA") with a very descriptive and very familar name "Los Angeles Metro". This will allow people who are unfamiliar with the acronym "LACMTA" to find information about the system in the Los Angeles area.
(BTW, "Los Angeles" in this case refers to "Los Angeles County", since the City of Los Angeles does not have any system called "Metro".)

Information related to the Metro Red and Purple Lines has been redistributed among three articles, as follows:
- The article Red Line (Los Angeles Metro) describes the current service known as the Red Line. This article also discusses the history of the project historically known as "the Red Line", which built the subway corridors now used by the Red Line and Purple Line services. Finally, this article also lists possible future extensions of the Red Line route.
- The article Westside Subway Extension (Los Angeles Metro) describes the history of and plans for the future subway corridor west of Western Avenue.
- The article Purple Line (Los Angeles Metro) describes the current service known as the Purple Line.
The Red and Purple line articles were in serious disrepair and included inaccuracies, speculation and redundancy. Hopefully the newer, clearer distribution of information will help prevent this from happening again.

I'm planning on changing how Wikipedia covers the history and future of the various Metro lines, moving some material out of the articles for individual lines and to articles specifically about history and expansion.
