This article needs a complete rewrite. Much of it is heavily POV, and some parts are blatantly racist. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.162.195.60 ( talk) 19:58, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
I removed all POV that I could see, cleaned up and wikified the entire article. It looks pretty good now but could benefit from more information. Any questions can be left on my talk page. Thanks! -- Shawn 00:41, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
As a Cuban American from New York City whose family came here *before the revolution I find what I have read so far pretty ridiculous, entirely POV, without reference, and fairly racist. Firstly, the author gives the statistic that %86 percent of Cuban Americans identify as Caucasian. Giving statistics with no reference is the worst kind writing. Secondly, the author states that there was little race mixing before the communist revolution. Again, where is the proof? This statement is entirely and completely false. I recommend that the author read "Sugar is Made with Blood: The Conspiracy of La Escalera and the Conflict between Empires and Slavery in Cuba" by Robert L. Paquette for a historical, and verifiable unlike the author's writing, account of pardo society and race relations prior to Castro. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.6.175.44 ( talk) 21:33, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Can somebody provide any validity to the statement that the Miami area is one of the wealthiest cities in the country? Didn't a Census report a few years back say Miami is the poorest large city in the country? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.65.77.46 ( talk) 06:50, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
"or Mulatto) and even that of the population of Cuba, 62% of which are Mulatto or black (according to the 2001 Cuban national census)". [1]
Removed the following sentence since the reference given was not what it indicates in the sentence. The reference in Spanish indicates from the Cuban government census that the population was 11.1 million; 7.2 million white, 2.7 million mulatos or mestizos and 1.1 black. — Preceding unsigned comment added by L'Écolier ( talk • contribs) 23:26, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Why is orlando mentioned as having a large Cuban community when in fact there is more cities around the country with larger populations, same goes for Key West. Tampa I understand because its historically known for having a Cuban community but Orlando!?!? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.215.29.177 ( talk) 04:17, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

This article still need citations badly. The small sections I read did not include improbable details, but without citations I can't very well rely on anything here. Unless someone adds citations, the article should be flagged. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.180.1.229 ( talk) 20:19, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

This article has much original research, peacock language, and unreferenced essay statements. There is sloppy research -- the very first citation I checked -- [2] does NOT say that Cubans are the third largest Hispanic group, it says they're the fifth. (The table was apparently not read carefully by the editor.) This article needs a comprehensive rewrite, with existing references checked, and many other references added. It seems that listing some of the top name on this page as being 'Cuban Americans' is a bit of a stretch. If you go back 3 generations pretty much the entire population of the USA would not be American by this standard. I fear there is a good bit of propaganda being used here to show that if you can escape from the clutches of the evil Cuban government you can make it big in the USA.
For example Cameron Diaz. Father born in Los Angeles. His father came from Spain via Cuba. She does not speak Spanish. Her mother has a polyglot ancestry of general US population. Surely to classify as being Cuban American at least one of your immediate parents should have actually been born in Cuba.
Enrique Murciano is of Cuban decent meaning what excatly? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.102.102.75 ( talk) 12:08, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

This information from the first section I do not know where it came from, but between 1778 and 1782 the Hispanic that emigrated to Louisiana were only Spanish people: Between 2100 and 2700 were Canarians and others 500 people were from Malaga, Andalusia. Cubans were not to Louisiana in those years. I think that the seccion of this article is confusing to Canarians with Cuban. If this information is true, if really Cubans migrated to Louisiana during this period, the editors of the seccion should put references. -- Isinbill ( talk) 01:02, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
If ANY high-profile Cuban-American deserves attention in the showcase of images it is the late Desi Arnaz, arguably the first Cuban-American personality who got widespread attention as "Ricky Ricardo" in the long-running and certifiably excellent TV show I Love Lucy.
That's before I even discuss Cuban-American athletes. Pbrower2a ( talk) 14:55, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
I've removed allusions to the 2010 census as it was simply added to replace the 2000 statistics without updating any corresponding figures.
If anyone wishes to update to 2010, please be certain to also include the statistical changes and update them. One census = one set of statistics and findings. A second census = another set. Transposition of information = uncited = removed. -- Iryna Harpy ( talk) 02:31, 16 January 2014 (UTC)

People being represented, numbers of images, etc. in the infobox are being constantly changed by IP one-off edits, even to the point that they're edit warring over who their personal favourites are.
Ideally, there should be a rational selection of a number of Cuban Americans representing various fields of achievement. I'd encourage some form of discussion as to who these representatives are to be in order that those watching this page don't have to check back every day in order to establish whether those being added are even Cuban Americans!
Could we please try to stabilise the representative group and make consensus changes only when it is deemed appropriate to change them around? This is Wikipedia and should not be subject to the personal whims of IP contributors who are into models, baseball or whatever happens to tickle their WP:POV fancy. -- Iryna Harpy ( talk) 00:06, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
I have created Cuban immigration to the United States using, for the most part, material from this article. This offers a chance to truncate the section here on immigration and create a more detailed article at Cuban immigration to the United States. Note that Cuban migration to Miami also exists. For those with NYT's access see http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/21/us/for-cubans-in-miami-the-gulf-to-their-homeland-narrows.html User:Fred Bauder Talk 12:30, 22 December 2014 (UTC)
A son or daugther who was born in United States of America must not called "cuban american" because their parents are cubans citizens. Because how we call a person who was born in USA and his/her father born in Perú and his/mother born in England. Dynamic IP 2601:******, please stop trying to push content sourced from a couple of texts published in 1998 and one from 2003 as if they were a reflection of current socio-economic dynamics. Aside from having directly plagiarised sections like "As sociologist Lisandro Perez first suggested, the real Cuban success story “may rest more on a generalized family work ethic than on the individual cases of meteoric social mobility.”", used 'cuban-american work ethic' in order to extrapolate an allusion to WP:POV-push WP:PEACOCK descriptions of the Cuban-American work ethic from William Velez's Race and Ethnicity in the United States: An Institutional Approach (one of the 1998 texts), but don't even seem to know what page of any of the books not available on line you're 'referencing' actually discusses the issues you're trying to push. -- Iryna Harpy ( talk) 05:11, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

Instead of “notable people” under the “notable cuban americans” section, I propose the heading for “notable people” be changed to “notable cuban figures” since some, including the first listed, are not American, as is presently erroneously suggested. José Martí was not Cuban-American. Carlos Finlay was not Cuban-American. Instead of removing these figures who are clearly important to Cuban-American history and culture, I propose the subheading be changed. 174.240.66.96 ( talk) 03:09, 23 September 2023 (UTC)
