Proposed closures section

This section is in some serious need of an update. It's my understanding, based on some research I did while updating China Camp State Park, that, partly due to the outcry when the "hidden funds" 54 million dollars laying around was discovered, a bunch of the parks did not in fact close but were taken over in whole or in part by local government or private operators (public-private partnerships) and that some of them have even now been returned to the control of the state. For example, of the three in Marin County that were going to close (China Camp, Olompali State Historic Park, and Tomales Bay State Park), all three were operated for a while by Marin State Parks Association and then the last two were handed back over to state control in 2013. China Camp is still being operated by a nonprofit (Friends of China Camp) but they were hoping to hand that one back too.

Not being a resident of California or an expert on what's happening in every county in the state with its parks, I don't feel like I can update this topic for the whole state, but right now the article is leaving the inaccurate impression that all the 70 parks on the list were closed. In addition, while the "hidden funds" controversy is mentioned, it's not integrated with the topic of the park closures. TheBlinkster ( talk) 20:14, 8 February 2016 (UTC) reply
