Students

The "Students" section reads like a press release and is unencyclopaedic. Statements like "largest education system in the world" is perhaps misleading and will need work - possibly the largest "integrated" education system in the world or something like that? I imagine PR China's 68 million higher education students is larger in number than the California Community Colleges System's enrollment - as not all the world is familiar with higher education "systems" as such perhaps "in the USA" might be preferable. List of campuses

Wouldn't it make sense for this article to include a list of campuses/colleges of this system, or at the least link to a dedicated article of that sort. I know that the navbox on the bottom includes links to all campuses, but navboxes by their nature are metacontent and not strictly part of the article, so it can't be just used in place of a separate list either here or at a spin-off article. I think I'll jigger something up. oknazevad ( talk) 21:53, 29 January 2014 (UTC) reply

Disputed term "California Community Colleges system"

California Education Code Section 75001 reads, in part, "The California Online Community College... shall be considered a district and community college within the California Community Colleges system...

Please note the use of the term "California Community Colleges system". The California Legislature uses that term as a reference to the statutorily defined "California Community Colleges".

Also look at how the system is defined in Education Code section 70900. As used therein, the word "system" is clearly part of the definition and not part of the name.
The article should be renamed to California Community Colleges. -- Coolcaesar ( talk) 19:32, 13 April 2019 (UTC) reply
The practice of using the term "California Community Colleges system" was adopted so that writers could refer to the CCC system (the Board of Governors and the 73 community college districts) and then use the term "California community colleges" to refer to the 114 community colleges in California.
I am not opposed to renaming the article. Scott Gregory Beach ( talk) 01:42, 14 April 2019 (UTC) reply
Hearing no objections, I'm going ahead. -- Coolcaesar ( talk) 06:33, 21 September 2020 (UTC) reply

Requested move 21 September 2020

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

California Community Colleges SystemCalifornia Community Colleges – The common name and official name of the community college system in the state of California is simply the "California Community Colleges." The word "system" is only used in some contexts as an informal qualifier but is not actually part of the name. User:Samxli inexplicably created this article under the incorrect name "California Community Colleges system" on 1 May 2005. On 9 December 2007, User:Cgingold then moved the article to the incorrect title "California Community Colleges System" and claimed that was the proper name of the system. That was clearly incorrect. Several months ago, I proposed moving this article on the talk page to the correct title and no one has objected. I just tried to initiate the move but cannot do it because User:Lensovet created an article redirect from California Community Colleges to this article on 23 June 2006, instead of simply moving this article to the correct title.
