Gas prices

On Sunday, May 22, 2005, the gas prices in Buttonwillow were the cheapest on I-5 between the Grapevine and CA-152, at $2.20/gallon. Gentgeen 18:46, 25 May 2005 (UTC) reply

I was in an auto accident near there, and was told by the tow truck operator, that it is a very dangerous drive with many accidents.

Buttonwillow landfill discussion NPOV

This section of the article appears highly biased. The NPOV guidelines indicate that both sides of a dispute should be presented in a neutral manner. This section provides only a single point of view: that of opposition to the landfill. This section should be rewritten to remove judgmental and pejorative language and to present the viewpoint of those who support the landfill.-- QLFixBoy ( talk) 18:55, 18 August 2011 (UTC) reply

"Toxic waste dump" is a pejorative and inaccurate term. The correct description is "Class I landfill" or "hazardous waste landfill". The word "toxic" is used incorrectly throughout this section. "Toxic" and "hazardous" are not synonyms, either in the dictionary, or in federal or California regulations. They are not interchangeable. Not all hazardous waste is toxic.

The last sentence of the third paragraph in this section implies that the landfill released toxins and that the released toxins caused the birth defect cited in the preceding sentence. Neither statement has been proven; indeed, the cause and effect relationship between releases from the landfill and birth defects are impossible to prove.

The last paragraph of the section describes "myths" that apparently the cited source describe. However, the pertinence of the discussion to the topic is not described. It appears the word "myth" is used to further the author's apparently biased position.

The serious environmental justice issues raised in this article are undermined by the author's biased POV.-- QLFixBoy ( talk) 19:28, 18 August 2011 (UTC) reply

Buttonwillow landfill discussion factual content

This section of the article includes numerous references to Laidlaw. The Buttonwillow landfill is currently operated by Clean Harbors Buttonwillow, LLC. The content appears to be three years out of date. Recent developments, with correct references to current operations, regulatory decisions, and citizen complaints should be added.

In the fifth paragraph, the California Environmental Quality Act is mentioned. The paragraph subsequently states that an Environmental Impact Report “examines the potential environmental impacts of many projects such as toxic waste dumps”. (The quotation marks are the author's.) CEQA does not include the quoted line. The word "dump" does not appear in CEQA at all. The source quoted by the author appears to be inaccurate or biased. -- QLFixBoy ( talk) 19:14, 18 August 2011 (UTC) reply
