He is actually from Silsbee, Texas. In fact, the Silsbee article mentions him as being a famous native son. I recommend it for deletion from this page, unless it is documented that he "grew up" (or the like) in Beaumont.
Where did Chief Parks grow up? does he still have family in Beaumont Texas?
From subsection "Severe weather events": On May 29, 2006,...Numerous homes were flooded, but no major flooding occurred. Well, which is it? -- Blainster 08:32, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
Google of
"melissa meadows" fiber
brings up 3 hits: two for this article, and one from the minutes of a Hurst-Euless-Bedford I.S.D. meeting.
Doesn't strike me as that famous.
The last sentence sounds way too informal and personal. I'm removing it.-- Makiten 23:56, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
I made this change but it was removed as vandalism. I am placing it here for discussion.
The current link to Conn's is to the official site which is nothing but an advertisement.
I propose this 3rd party link which is 10x more informative about the actual company, is very light on advertising, and additionally includes a link to the official web site.

So what does the community think is a better link for Conn's? The history of the company or it's latest salespage? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.82.9.86 ( talk) 14:42, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
I created sections for "Economy" and "Culture", and moved existing content into them. I deleted the "famous people" section, because most of those people are already part of the category "People from Beaumont, Texas". A link can be found to that category's page in the new Beaumont, Texas, template bar at the bottom of the article (link "Beaumonters"). Deatonjr ( talk) 17:27, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
I seriously doubt Mike Hunt (say it out loud) or William Shatner are actual members of the city council. Someone might want to look into amending this. Jmcstrav
The fourth paragraph and citation is fairly one-sided and the subject is open for debate. The description may have been close to the situation 20 or even 15 years ago in some areas. However, federal standards has helped lessen pollution, especially ground level ozone. There are many sources including the EPA, the state's Sierra Club chapter and in the media that will substantiate that. Just by personal observation there are many less Ozone Action Days (days in which smog is at unhealthy levels)than from 10 years ago. That isn't to say improvement could not be used. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rsmithtex ( talk • contribs) 20:19, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
Shouldn't there be a section on Beamont's notable contributions, I nominate:
Seeing as it has a recent reliable source, I'd say it merits inclusion. Can I get other editors opinions? It gets removed a lot by IPs. Falcon8765 ( talk) 20:13, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
I notice that one of the links provided as a reference doesn't even mention Beaumont, it mentions Port Arthur exclusively. I will remove the link and the sentence it supports in a week if no one comments here. ThomasHorn7 ( talk) 18:09, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Recently I restructured the article by moving many of the headings to sub headings. I modeled the style of the article after the Houston article which is the only FA quality article on a City in the State of Texas.
I am attempting to increase the size of this article by removing the many list located in each section and replacing them with free flowing text. Removing the list should also help us obtain a better overall quality with the article. If you would like to help please speak to me on my talk page. ThomasHorn7 ( talk) 15:22, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
This is NOT the town where the musical ''Footloose'' is based! That's the fictional town of Bomont, TX. This is Beaumont, TX.-- The Wing Dude, Musical Extraordinaire ( talk) 23:59, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Johnny is more known for his "Texas Blues" than rock. I suggest the change to: "Blues/Rock Artist" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.162.237.106 ( talk) 22:36, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
"The [New York] Times reported that one place eagerly awaiting [the Supreme Court’s ruling on voting rights] was Beaumont, Texas, where the Justice Department has blocked several attempts by a group of white citizens to change voting regulations for the explicit purpose of unseating a black-majority school board." http://www.newyorker.com/arts/critics/atlarge/2013/07/08/130708crat_atlarge_menand?currentPage=all Jo3sampl ( talk) 00:11, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
Material from List of mayors of Beaumont, Texas was split to Beaumont, Texas on 25 August 2017 from this version. The former page's history now serves to provide attribution for that content in the latter page, and it must not be deleted so long as the latter page exists. An editor has removed the names of two notable people from this article with the edit summary "No. That's not how it works. To be considered notable in THIS Wikipedia article they each need their own Wikipedia articles." There has been no previous consensus on this talk page about this, however, a consensus was reached at Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities/US Guideline#Notable people suggesting that "additions without their own article should be removed and discussed on the talk page of the city, until a consensus is reached." The two names added were Wilfred Roy Cousins, Sr. and Wilfred Roy Cousins, Jr., both members of the Texas Senate. [1] [2] It is unfortunate neither of these state senators yet have Wikipedia articles, though both are presumed notable per WP:POLITICIAN. The input of others would be appreciated. @ Magnolia677: - I'm neutral on that.I can see why some might not wanting to have to list every state senator, county judge, mayor, etc that the region has ever had in the "Notable people" section, which would be unwieldy and somewhat redundant. One potential compromise might be to create the articles and then add those articles to the category, which is linked to in the first sentence of the "Notable people" section of this article.
