I notice that Cuban talk show host Cristina Saralegui was labeled as a Basque-American? In my opinion, a Basque-American is a person of Basque descent who's family came to America directly from the Basque Country, not from Latin America. I see Cristina Saralegui as a Cuban-American than Basque-American because her Grandparents(or Great-Grandparents) immigrated to Cuba than the United States. I think she, Carlos Alazraqui, Fernando Bengoechea, Hector Elizondo, and Robert Goizueta should be removed. I also believe these people are more likely to see themselves as Hispanic-Americans than Basque-Americans. Majority of Basque-Americans see themselves as White than Hispanic. If they are labeled as Basque-Americans, that means Tiago Splitter, a German-Brazilian basketball player, should be labeled as a German-American and Pablo Mastroeni, an Italian-Argentine soccer player, should be labeled as an Italian-American. The introductory statement reads: Basque-Americans, or (Amerikanuak) in Basque.... Apart of the parenthesis that should be "" or rather italic type, I am of the understanding that the term Amerikanuak applies to all Basques that migrated to America-continent: the Americas, as it's usually called in English, including those who returned to the Basque Country. I.e. someone who migrated to Cuba or Argentina would also be an amerikanu, including those that returned, often rich, to the motherland.
Please, correct me if I'm wrong in this but, otherwise, the name should be dealt with somewhere in the article. -- Sugaar ( talk) 15:05, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

He was valencian, not basque, unless you consider basque every person with basque descent, in which case you should include half of all spanish descent people on earth.

If your "ancestry" is Basque then you qualify as a Basque American.. Being born in another country doesn't change your ancestors!. Hispanic means mainly of Spanish descent, its distorted use now in only the US is useless. Cristina Saralegui most certainly identifies with her Basque heritage and Basque blood. You need to read her book where she devotes "pages" to her Basque grandparents and one grandmother being from Asturias. She even says she was born in Cuba but with Basque blood and with the Basque traits. go to her wiki Article and see the source to her book. The person originally above who suggested to remove her was clueless. She grew up in a family with very strong connections. Even Ricky martin (whether you want to think he qualifies as an "American" since Puerto Ricans are US citizens is really up to other people) but he said he is partly Basque in an interview.
