Preemptive comment re "conspiracy theorist" in lead

Another editor has just restored "conspiracy theorist" to the lead. While this would be a controversial statement in many BLPs, I believe that specific statement or something similar should be in the lead.

Were B.o.B. someone else, notable primarily for one thing, who also happened to believe that the Earth is flat, 9/11 was an inside job or that his mail is being stolen by aliens from the planet rXachr'r, we would not include it in the lead. In this case, however, the subject believes in multiple unconnected* conspiracy theories, has received substantial coverage in reliable sources specifically centered on those beliefs and earned a dis-track from notable non-rapper Neil deGrasse Tyson resulting from one of the beliefs. (*I assume Holocaust denial, flat Earth belief and the U.S. government supposedly cloning celebrities are generally unrelated, though I'm sure someone has managed to tie them all together.)

Further, he has sought attention for several of his beliefs with a song referencing several anti-Semitic conspiracy theories and an attempt to raise $1,000,000 for equipment to test his flat Earth beliefs.

At absolute bottom, I'd see a possible argument that there might be a better term than "conspiracy theorist", but I think the term kinda captures what we are saying and fits the sources. B.o.B → B.O.B – Technically the "o" in B.o.B should not be lowercase, as all three letters are said in his name and they do not stand for anything. All respective pages with "B.o.B" are also included in this request if approved. JE98 ( talk) 03:31, 15 April 2019 (UTC) reply

First up is "B.o.B" vs. "B.O.B" or any other combination of capitalizations and punctuation. His official website, AllMusic and the majority of the sources use "B.o.B" (the current title). Whether or not the letters stand for anything or not has nothing to do with the capitalization or punctuation used (cf. everything from IBM to t.A.T.u., not I.B.M. and Tatu).
Next up is the parenthetical, "(rapper)". Maybe I'm missing something at WP:TITLE, but my reading seems to indicate that if something is unlikely to be used in the search box to intend a different article, there is no reason for disamb. Yes, there are plenty of articles that someone might be looking for if they search for "Bob" or "bob" and this is one of them. The disamb page handles that. The only possible problem I see is B.O.B (song), a fairly low-charting song. Per WP:SMALLDETAILS, I think the hatnotes and disamb page cover it. - SummerPhD v2.0 13:32, 15 April 2019 (UTC) reply

  • Revert back to B.o.B. (with a dot after each letter): There was an RM in 2010 that found no consensus to remove the dot after the second 'B' (see Talk:B.o.B/Archive 1#I think this page should be moved), but the article got unilaterally copy-paste moved and histmerged less three weeks later to the name that had just been rejected in the RM. It took me until late 2018 to notice that it happened, but by any proper form of due process, the removal of the dot was not appropriate. The lack of a dot at the end is very contrary to ordinary English formatting, and moreso than the lowercase 'o'. MOS:TM generally prefers styling names as in ordinary English writing conventions. B.o.B. → B.o.B – B.o.B (without the final dot) is used by the artist and the vast majority of sources. A scroll through the article's references can confirm this. MTV, The Guardian and CNN all omit the dot, while the (very few) references that don't are relatively informal hip-hop blogs which are more likely to have misspelled (misformatted?) by accident. As WP:TITLETM states: Article titles follow standard English text formatting in the case of trademarks, unless the trademarked spelling is demonstrably the most common usage in sources independent of the owner of the trademark.
