Liberty Ale IPA?

Elsewhere I see this beer characterized as an American style pale ale. I have to agree with this classification considering this beer's lack of emphasis on hop flavor. Anyone opposed?

Hmmm. No opposition, although it is a steam beer, which is its own unique classification, no? Wikidemo 07:24, 3 August 2007 (UTC) reply
Liberty Ale is not a steam beer, only Anchor Steam is. 208.29.184.143 ( talk) 00:14, 23 August 2008 (UTC) reply
True but the original Anchor Steam is the best darn beer I have ever tasted and still going strong in San Francisco.-- Oxforduniversity1 ( talk) 19:50, 24 July 2014 (UTC) reply
Good discussion from the brewery on this topic here: http://www.anchorbrewing.com/blog/ask-bob-brewer-is-liberty-ale-an-apa-or-an-ipa/ Slobrewer ( talk) 04:06, 17 September 2014 (UTC) reply

Tours at factory

I'm wondering if we should list the factory tours in the home page? Some people don't know anything about it. Would like to here some input.-- Oxforduniversity1 ( talk) 20:00, 13 August 2014 (UTC) reply

For potential edit — bought by Sapporo

Spacek, Rachel (August 3, 2017). "San Francisco's Anchor Brewing acquired by Sapporo". Los Angeles Times. Retrieved April 4, 2018.

“Anchor Brewing has been a San Francisco staple since 1896, surviving earthquakes, prohibition and tech booms and busts. But on Thursday, the brewer announced it will be a San Francisco company no longer after a sale to Japan's Sapporo Holdings Ltd. Exact terms of the deal were not disclosed, but a spokesman for Sapporo said the price was approximately $85 million. “The deal marks the latest California brewery to be acquired by a larger beer maker. It comes amid rising competition among craft breweries — a sector of the beer industry that Anchor has been credited, by some, for helping inspire.”

Sapporo Buyout Price

Can somebody help clarify what the buyout price for the acquisition by Sapporo was? Japan Times says $168 million, the San Diego Tribune says $165 million, but the article cited on the main page, The Drinks Business, says $85 million. The $168 million figure is also used on the Sapporo Breweries page. Maybe somebody more experienced than me in business news can help clarify. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Graxwell ( talkcontribs) 17:19, 12 July 2023 (UTC) reply

The first two articles are about Sapporo buying Stone Brewing, not Anchor Brewing. I don't know why there's a discrepancy between the two numbers, but the $85 million figure is the only one used for the Anchor sale, and as far as I can tell it's accurate.
