Causation

It is unclear that the organization came out against slavery BECAUSE it was integrated. The introductory sentences indicate contrarywise, that the board was multiracial due to their commitment to racial equality, and their abolitionist stance was a primary reason for the formation of the institution, rather than a resultant.
