Tried collapsing the section, what do you think? Could also break it out into a standalone article, but not sure that makes sense, since this article is more a list of alumni than anything else.

That - breaking the list into a standalone list article - is exactly what needs to happen. It's the common practice for lists of alumni when they get too big for the institution's article and that's clearly what has happened here.
