Article Class

It looks like this article has been vastly improved since first being assessed as a start class, I therefore have upgraded its Virginia assessment to B and also added it to WikiProject West Virginia with the same assessment. I recommend that other WikiProject members upgrade their assessment of the page as per their own criteria. Arbogastlw ( talk) 15:34, 12 June 2009 (UTC) reply

Contradiction

The article says that part of the Allegheny Mountains are in Virginia, but according to the map they are not. ZFT ( talk) 18:09, 19 April 2012 (UTC) reply

The map needs refining. 69.255.153.126 ( talk) 02:15, 26 December 2012 (UTC) reply

An additional, and related contradiction exists between the Extent section which defines the eastern boundary as the Great Appalachian Valley, and the following Allegheny Front and Allegheny Highlands section which defines the eastern edge as the Allegheny Front. Having lived near the Alleghenies in both Pennsylvania and Virginia, my understanding from local usage has always been that the Allegheny Plateau is bound on the east by the Allegheny Front and to the east of the front are the Allegheny Mountains which extend between front and the Great Valley. I do not know if I can find documentation of this definition. IronSprings ( talk) 23:17, 3 August 2017 (UTC) reply

Hey folks, I'm not a Wikipedia editor, but I love all you all do! I would recommend hauling that picture out back and shooting it. It's wrong, it contradicts everything else in this article, and contradicts everything I know about the Alleghenies. This picture, I mean: /info/en/?search=Allegheny_Mountains#/media/File:Cumberlandplateaumap.png For example, the article lists Spruce Knob in Pendleton County as the highest peak in the Alleghenies, but that map does not include Spruce Knob or any of Pendleton County, West Virginia. Furthermore, that map excludes West Virginia's Allegheny_Mountain_(West_Virginia–Virginia), West Virginia's Back Allegheny Mountain, and Allegheny County, Virginia. Now, that picture might be a good depiction of where the Allegheny Front is, and perhaps everything West of the Front is correct. I'm not going to claim I know that. But either the Alleghenies extend well to the East of the Front, or half of what is written on this page (and those other pages) about the Allegheny Mountains is wrong. This is an imprecise but better map: https://kids.britannica.com/kids/article/Allegheny-Mountains/346076# — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:5C9:101:A890:12E:5E23:6882:89E6 ( talk) 22:08, 28 January 2023 (UTC) reply
