I'd do it myself, but I'm unmotivated and find citing sources and whatnot irritating as shit, especially when trying to get sauces for widespread memes or stuff from threads in DATochi. Yeah, there's fact to it in that that's what the media is saying in Japan. In reality, he just didn't go to court and ignored the lawsuits. I saw him at an event at Waseda University last week, where he claimed that he wasn't trying to "disappear," he just figured that the prosecution will give up if he ignores them (he's used that tactic before and it worked). -SAGAkenmin The creator did not disappear as you said he was fired from 2channel because he used user data and cencerd posts because large corporations paid him a large sum of money to. He was fired for those reasons. [1]

This definitely brightens up the Culture category. Cases when people post significant questions about their lives, usually romantic, and asks 2ch'ers for advice. They then report back what has happened and so it continues into a real life story. It appears that enough detail is reported for them to be made into manga.

The following looks like a bad chokuyaku (direct translation) from Japanese "This prevents the rottening of old threads" How about "This prevents threads from becoming stale" ?

The romanizations of 2channel are as follows:
- "Channel 2", by the New York Times etc. This is just bad reporting, "correcting" a name that doesn't actually mean a TV channel.
- "Ni-Channel", by Mainichi News. This indicates the proper pronounciation but should not be used as the title because it doesn't indicate how the name is spelled in Japanese.
- "2channel". This is correct and is a proper name for this article.
- "2ch". This is an abbreviation and the name of the Web server. Historically it is the name of this article.

2ch is not "BBS" as defined in the other entry on Wikipedia. "BBS" in English mainly refers to the old, pre-www-era computer communication system (パソコン通信 in Japanese). Online discussion forum, message board, or the like is a more appropriate term to describe it. ( Hermeneus 11:56 18 Jul 2003 (UTC))

- "ga" is a onomatopoeia used for sound of hitting something in Japanese.
- As for hitting itself, it's not for fixing a problem. Originally, one person created a thread " Call NullPointerException Nullpo" and then the second poster posted an " AA", hitting the first poster with a hammer. - 2ch is the most popular website in japan excluding ISP sites, according to Alexa. The Japanese wikipedia has articles upon articles related to 2ch, so it's definitely notable.

Merge Nihon wa hansei shiru into this article

Does anyone else who speaks Japanese think the translation of "Nihon wa hansei shiru" is poorly translated as "...apolojuice..."? I mean, literally it means "Japan will apologize [in the future]".
- no, su"ru" is a future form , shi-ro is a command form. So Nihon wa hansei shi"ro", Japan, Apologise or Apologise, Japan. Shiru on the other hand is juice so Apolojuice is the right translation.

Hiroyuki says he wanted a name that wasn't related to him, in order to advocate the spirt of Anonymous. Also, he mentions that channel 2 was the channel used to play video games back in the day.
2channel has a conflicting relationship with Koreans. As 2channel is anonymous, having suppressed criticsim of Korea and Koreans living in Japan are often posted. For instance in the time that there is no 2channel the problem of many people taken away by North Korea, Takeshma Problem, the problem of selling stimulant secretly by Koreans living in Japan, the Pachinko problem(gambling done by Mainly Koreans living in Japan and a part of its profit is sent to North Korea), were almost suppressed away from mass arguent.

Hardly of this information is cited! I can't tell what is verifiable from the 7 or so citations. Even worse there is rampant WP:OR about the culture of 2CH and trolling 2CH when there isn't much written. Except for the one or two articles actually discussing 2 chan in general and the few news mentions regarding some drama the article is primarily original research. I tried tagging things with {{ Fact}} but frankly there was so much I had to mark the whole article with the Original Research tag. - Koheiman, I disagree with you writing it as "サテライトキャノン田代". "Canon", unless a mispelling of "Cannon" would most likely be spelled "カノン" "Kanon" not "キャノン" "Kyanon". Plus writing "Tashiro" would most likely be written as "たしろ" "Tashiro" not "田代" "ta"+"shiro". I think it would be written as "サテライト・カノン・たしろ" with the little dots in the middle to separate the words. 2ch is most definitely a commercial website. Its founder, Hiroyuku, gets approx. JPY 100 million (USD 1 million) per year from advertisements and memberships, as revealed through a Wired.com interview. He has a staff of over 300 volunteer administrators who do not receive pay; he keeps all the profits for himself.
Never assume that a website is non-commercial based on appearance or server downtime. I had to go through this discussion with 4chan as well. In general, if a site has advertisements of any kind, it is commercial. If a site sells paid memberships, optional or not, it is commercial. If a site solicits its members for "donations," it is commercial, unless the website is a certified nonprofit organization and/or charity like the Wikimedia Foundation. This article covers them both and the website is still popularly known a 2channel. Also I am waiting for the
